As a huge Valentine's Day treat, Smart Communications made the romantic wishes of Filipino K-drama and K-pop fans come true with the release of its new television commercial (TVC) featuring global Korean superstars Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin. This marks the first time the two find themselves sharing the screen following the success of the critically-acclaimed and highly-beloved drama series Crash Landing On You (CLOY). Featuring Ben&Ben's original song "Inevitable" in the background, the TVC sees the two searching for each other in a crowded cry aided by 5G technology.
Much like a climax to a trilogy, the latest TVC wrapped up an online clamor that started last June 2020 when Smart crash-landed into the hearts of fans and mobile subscribers through Hyun Bin's "Simple. Smart Ako" TVC followed by another much-talked about Smart Signature TVC featuring Son Ye Jin. These commercials have fueled anticipation for a joint one among those who made their wishes and clamors literally loud and clear using the hashtag #InSmartWeTrust. Through its newest TVC, Smart more than delivered its premise after the telco's president and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio teased the public of a possible project involving the CLOY couple during the virtual press conference that introduced Hyun Bin as its endorser.
The campaign also marks a rare occasion where a local brand features global superstars in a music video with a song written and performed by local music icons in the background. Ben&Ben wrote the music and the theme song which is purposely written as musical score for the commercial in partnership with Smart. Anyway, Smart has done what is seemed to be impossible by putting the two lead stars of a global hit Korean drama series in one project for the first time much like Smart 5G which began enabling subscribers to do groundbreaking things we thought we couldn't do.
