4th Eddys Awards Premieres On FDCPChannel.ph

The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) are joining forces anew for the 4th annual Eddys (Entertainment Editors' Choice) Awards which is slated to be virtually held on March 22nd (Monday). According to FDCP Chairman Liza Diño, this is the third time that the council is lending support to the group which is holding the annual film awards with high regard.

The virtual edition of the 4th Eddys Awards will premiere on FDCPChannel.ph, the official online streaming service of FDCP, and will be simultaneously streamed across various online platforms including the official SPEEd Facebook page as well as the official Facebook pages and YouTube channels of various members of the organization. Highly regarded as an exclusive FDCP-managed platform that enables audiences to enjoy quality local and international content online and accessible worldwide, FDCPChannel.ph will allow cineastes across the globe to witness the Eddys recognize top-caliber Filipino films which aired on various platforms throughout the pandemic last year.

There will be fourteen categories covering work released in 2020 including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress among others. Together with FDCP, the 4th Eddys Awards is likewise grateful to courier service and delivery app Toktok, San Miguel Corporation, Tiger Crackers, Smart Shot, House Speaker Cong. Lord Allan Velasco, Willie Revillame, Raffy Tulfo and ACT-CIS Representative Cong. Nina Taduran. Meanwhile, Chan Robles & Company managing partner Juancho Robles will stand as the awards' official auditor with vital duties which have kept the integrity of the awards intact from the very beginning. A special highlight of the 4th Eddys Awards is the inaugural presentation of the Isah V. Red Award in honor and memory of SPEEd's founding president which will be given to Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., Angel Locsin, Kim Chiu, Ramon Tan, Rei Anicoche-Tan and Claire De Leon-Papa for their humanitarian efforts toward alleviating conditions of people affected by the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Another much-awaited tradition is the presentation of the Eddys Icon Awards which will be conferred for this year to veteran entertainment personalities Gloria Sevilla, Ronaldo Valdez, Pilar Pilapil, Boots Anson-Rodrigo, Gina Pareño, Dante Rivero, Tommy Abuel, Caridad Sanchez, critically-acclaimed film director Joel Lamangan, and entertainment columnist Ricky Lee. Meanwhile, the Eddys' annual special awardees have been named as the following: television and radio host and entertainment columnist Lolit Solis for the Joe Quirino Award; entertainment columnist Mario Bautista for the Mario Pichel Award; Brightlight Productions for the Rising Producers' Circle; and The IdeaFirst Company as Producer of the Year. Finally, posthumous recognitions will be given to director Peque Gallaga, Tony Mabesa, Menggie Cobarrubias, Ramon Revilla Sr., and Tony Ferrer.
