To meet the challenges brought about by the threat and negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic that has restricted live performances in art venues, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) reinvents Pasinaya, the largest multi-arts festival in the Philippines that has drawn thousands of artists and art enthusiasts to the CCP Grounds in Pasay City for fifteen years to sample exhibits, performances and workshops, as the Tuloy Po Kayo (TPK) CCP Online Open Multi-Arts Community Festival which is slated to be take place via live streaming on Zoom, Vimeo and CCP's social media channels on March 19-21 and 26-28.
After being cancelled last year when the coronavirus outbreak stopped the staging of mass gatherings, the spirit of CCP Pasinaya makes its highly intriguing return via the TPK Online Festival and is expected to draw more people to various online platforms which have literally crossed the geographical limitations of the Manila-based event. Audiences are invited to virtually enter the artist's home, studio and performance space, observe and be part of the creative process; hence, the festival name "Tuloy Po Kayo" or "Please Come In" in English. The festival name is also a declaration that "culture and the arts must continue to flourish, to provide joy and comfort, to guide and to inspire Filipinos".
The Tuloy Po Kayo (TPK) CCP Online Multi-Arts Open Community Festival will feature the following offerings: Palihan - introductory workshops in various performing art forms for all ages; Palabas - a series of performances and activities in music, theater, dance, visual arts, film and literature presented by the CCP, its resident companies, and major culture and arts groups from different regions across the country; Palitan Arts Market; People's Gala; Virtual Tours and Exhibitions offered by partner museums, galleries and other cultural venues; and online games. These events will be accessible via the Zoom Webinar setup with capacity of up to 1,500 participants per virtual room. Access to the said setup is free without the need for login and pre-registration details.
On the other hand, the Tuloy Po Kayo Events Page on the CCP website contains click able links to Palihan workshops, Palabas shows, Palitan Arts Market, Museum Tours, Film and New Media and archived events. Events mostly run for 15 to 30 minutes while some last up to 90 minutes. All daily offerings include many types for greater access and variety. The Zoom webinar is continuous from morning till afternoon; audiences can watch whatever is streamed and go from one room/space to another in the same period. Friday to Sunday event premieres happen in real-time but remain online as archived events for the duration of the festival. Audiences can access shows or art forms they missed during their premiere in the archival recording.
