Since last year, Cignal TV and TV5 Network Inc. have been collaborating with some of the biggest and most prominent film and television production companies to not only deliver the freshest and most compelling world-class locally-produced programs that can cater to the tastes of Filipino viewing households, but also provide new opportunities for talents and workers in the local entertainment industry who are greatly affected by the threat and negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Until now, these two companies are reinventing the landscape of not only the Philippine entertainment scene, but also the viewing habits of Filipinos.
Most recently, TV5 has bolstered its weekday primetime lineup with the addition of FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, Huwag Kang Mangamba, Walang Hanggang Paalam and Count Your Lucky Stars through its newly-forged content partnership deal with ABS-CBN Entertainment while Cignal, the leading direct-to-home pay TV service in the country, began showcasing award-winning films from Regal Entertainment every weekend on its One Screen channel. Brightlight Productions, owned and operated by former Congressman Albee Benitez, offers its own brand of entertaining shows including Laugh Out Loud (LOL), Rated Korina and Oh My Dad while Archangel Media remains keen in giving good vibes and good laughs to viewers everyday with weekday game shows Fill In The Bank hosted by Jose Manalo and Pokwang and Bawal Na Game Show with Wally Bayola and Paolo Ballesteros.
On the other hand, premiere entertainment company VIVA Entertainment has been working closely with the network to produce some of the most immersive and exciting shows that has made an impact on Filipino viewers including Masked Singer Pilipinas (which will have a second season by tentatively September 2021), Ghost Adventures, Bella Bandida, Kagat Ng Dilim and Onstage with The Wall Philippines, Born To Be A Star, Encounter and 1000 Heartbeats: Pintig Pinoy seeking to continue the trend started by their predecessors. Then there is the drama series Paano Ang Pasko? and its most dramatic sequel Paano Ang Pangako? produced by The IdeaFirst Company, created by Palanca Hall of Famer Jun Robles Lana and directed by Enrico Quizon, Ricky Davao and Perci Intalan.
Cignal TV and TV5 president and chief executive officer Robert P. Galang has expressed high hopes for more partnerships with various Philippine production companies. "These collaborations between Cignal and the different creative and production companies and their talents aim to bring the best entertainment programs for the benefit of our viewers. We are humbled and honored to be able to provide work opportunities for our brothers and sisters in the entertainment industry especially in this time of the pandemic,” Galang said. Cignal and TV5's open-door policy to entertainment industry powerhouses is highly regarded as a huge step in redefining how Filipinos consume content on television in today's modern world and in reaffirming as an avenue for creativity and variety of quality entertaining and binge-worthy programming reinvented.
