Asia's premier airline service AirAsia has hosted a virtual meeting with tourism organizations and stakeholders to present and discuss ways of providing boost to the tourism and economic growth in Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines. During the Virtual Luzon Regional Consultative Meeting held last April 30, AirAsia presented health and safety initiatives including transportation of vaccines, digital innovations, current advocacies and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) projects and potential partnership opportunities for tourism stakeholders.

In partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Congress of the Philippines, the meeting was also attended by over a hundred members of the Tourism Congress of the Philippines led by its President Jose Clemente III, DOT-CAR OIC Regional Director Jovita Ganongan, DOT Region II OIC Regional Director Fanibeth Domingo, DOT Region IV-B Director Engr. Christopher Morales, DOT Region V OIC Fe Buelo, DOT Region I Director Joseph Francisco Ortega, DOT Region III Director Carlona Uy, DOT CALABARZON (Region IV-A) Director Michael Palispis and members of the media.

”COVID-19 may have halted a lot of dreams for the time being but at AirAsia we never stopped dreaming big. While we safely work from home, we are taking this time to carefully plan and plot our next moves for the strong return of tourism and air travel. I am confident that soon, our collective and concerted efforts will result in the exceeding of pre-pandemic data in terms of tourist arrivals and activity. The warm hospitality, beautiful sceneries, and good food, among others, will surely entice tourists from both home and abroad, to rediscover the beauty of the north," said AirAsia Philippines Chief Executive Officer Ricky Isla.

“AirAsia is in full support of rebooting Luzon’s tourism and economic industries through our enhanced digital platform. The airasia super app and airasia.com go beyond flights, and offer a wide range of products and services in partnership with fellow industry stakeholders. We look forward to further supporting the respective Regions as we provide new opportunities for them, as well as affordable and flexible travel options for all our guests," Isla added. For Clemente, “The Tourism Congress of the Philippines is a community where we can all help one another by supporting each other’s industries and businesses. Through this consultative meeting, we hope to be able to provide updates with regards to initiatives and partners such as AirAsia, the Department of Tourism, and the various Regions, as we go forward in our bid to restore tourism in the Philippines.”
