The pandemic showed us the power of social media. Though far from each other, it brought us together. It showed us alternative ways to express ourselves, communicate and consume entertainment. Different industries have thought of ways on how to adapt in the pandemic game and be more creative in finding new ways to migrate their businesses as usuals. Film production has been put on hold during the first three months of lockdown last year but ABS-CBN Film Productions found creative ways to keep telling and sharing stories.
And as we move on towards a better 'new normal', ABS-CBN Film Productions has forged a partnership with the Philippines' biggest live streaming and social entertainment platform kumu to continue telling our stories. kumu is a powerful social media platform that brings the voices of Filipinos all over the world at the forefront. Aside from presenting users real-time earning opportunities as a live streamer, chances to win cash in various game shows and engagement in campaigns, kumu also fosters communities that ignite relevant discussions among Filipinos.
On the other hand, Star Cinema (ABS-CBN Film Productions) is the largest film production and distribution company in the Philippines that produced and released most of the all-time highest-grossing films in Philippine cinema. Its films targeted mainstream viewers with film genres ranging from action, comedy, drama, horror and fantasy. It is also known for romantic comedy flicks that made us fall in love over and over again such as One More Chance, My Ex And Whys, The Hows Of Us, Hello Love Goodbye and more. Over the past two decades, Star Cinema movies have discovered generations of talents and love teams that Filipinos had loved and supported and RISE Artists Studio continues the film production firm's mission to discover and hone new talents.
The partnership between Star Cinema and kumu will soon bear fruit through a romantic comedy movie that will soon be in production under the helm of the blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina. The project will be entitled "Love At First Stream" starring Kaori Oinuma, Rhys Miguel, Daniella Stranner and Anthony Jennings. The one-of-a-kind partnership between two of the largest brands in the local entertainment scene today hopes to bring and deliver a different kind of entertainment viewing to Filipino audiences in and out of the country.
