In Building The Nation Together, CEMEX Philippines remains committed in helping communities in need especially in rural regions across the Philippines. Its most recent project is in partnership with GMA Kapuso Foundation Inc. (GMAKF) in rebuilding a typhoon-stricken school in Panganiban, Catanduanes.

CEMEX Philippines Foundation, the company's corporate social responsibility arm, provided 600 bags of cement that went went towards the reconstruction of a three-classroom structure at Mabini Elementary School which was heavily damaged by Typhoon Rolly in November 2020. The reconstructed classrooms will benefit the local school community allowing them to have a conducive learning space to ensure quality education. The new structure was also designed to be more climate-resilient; being able to withstand natural disasters like earthquakes (up to intensity 8) and typhoon winds (up to 300 kph).

CEMEX Philippines Foundation supported the Kapuso School Development project of GMA Kapuso Foundation in the reconstruction of a three-classroom structure at Mabini Elementary School in Panganiban, Catanduanes, which was heavily damaged by typhoon Rolly in November 2020.

Marily Dizon, a Grade 7 student of Mabini Elementary School, shared with GMA Kapuso Foundation that she saw the newly painted classrooms as a sign of hope. “’Yung mga bata po na mag-aaral ngayon, hindi na maghihirap sa school pag umuulan (The children who are studying now, will no longer suffer going to school when it rains),” Marily said. CEMEX’s advocacy of Building Education is aligned with the Kapuso School Development program of GMAKF, which aims to foster integral education by providing students of underserved public schools, with decent and functional classrooms, as well as water distribution and sanitation facilities.
