ABS-CBN Corporation, the premiere media and entertainment company in the Philippines, continues to be on the roll amidst the continuing threat and effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and its indefinite absence from Philippine free TV due to the non-renewal of its legislative franchise as it has been shifting its focus on creating quality and highly entertaining content that tells and shares relevant stories about the Filipino people and culture to audiences here and abroad. 2022 is definitely no exception, without question.
ABS-CBN kicked off the Year of the Water Tiger with its partnership with Viu Philippines and collaboration with YouTube for an upcoming exclusive digital series slated for a Summer 2022 release. As the year rolls on, ABS-CBN is currently working on various projects for international audiences through its International Production and Co-Production including "The Rebirth Of The Cattleya Killer", the modern retelling of the 1996 suspense thriller film "Sa Aking Mga Kamay" starring 2020 Asian Academy Creative Awards Best Actor Arjo Atayde; the American crime drama "Concepcion" revolving around a family conquering a town in Los Angeles, California; and the prison drama "Sellblock" where majority of its scenes will be filmed inside ABS-CBN's state-of-the-art Hollywood-esque studio in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. With these projects underway as well as being involved in the 2021 American TV series "Almost Paradise" as a line producer, ABS-CBN is becoming a game-changing trailblazer in the Philippine entertainment scene and its International Production and Co-Production Head Ruel S. Bayani shares his thoughts in an interview with ABS-CBN News why it is so.
"For those who know us in the region (Southeast Asia), they know that we’ve been trailblazers. ABS-CBN has been the trailblazer, has been the game-changer sa landscape ng entertainment. It’s important that they know that we’re trustworthy, we’re reliable. They can decide for themselves,” RSB said. “The partners know that we are very serious about the quality of our production and our consistency,” Bayani added as strongly evidenced by the ongoing success of "The Broken Marriage Vow", the Philippine adaptation of BBC Studios' "Doctor Foster". RSB sees wider growth in the coming years and the foreseeable future with more partnerships and collaborations set to firmly place ABS-CBN as a trusted collaborator in the global stage. “Remember, this kind of business of ABS-CBN is not dependent on any franchise or any frequency, and this has been a long-time dream of management that we co-produce for global content and to champion Filipino talent. Hindi siya for show. We need to prove to our partners and to people from Southeast Asia, the region, that we will continue to build on it, continue to learn from all these experiences, and eventually even embark on bigger projects and continue to scale and build this division,” he said.
Beyond leveling to global standards of entertainment production, Bayani said a main thrust of ABS-CBN International Production and Co-Production is to continue developing talents both in front and behind the cameras. “All the efforts that we’ve done so far consistently, kita naman, that we are serious about it. It’s a lot of hard work. Walang madali sa process na ‘to but kinakaya because we need to show our people that no one is giving up. No one is being complacent. We want to challenge ourselves. We want to create new opportunities for our people. And, of course, we want to inspire our fellow Kapamilyas that there are so many other ways to continue serving the Filipinos, and many other ways to champion our talents."
