PUBG Mobile will be launching two new initiatives in the Philippines, which are Community Champions and Ladies Tournament. For Community Champions, its focus will be on the local grassroots development of the game’s community while the Ladies Tournament aims to give focus to its female player base and #BreakTheBias in gaming. “In PUBG MOBILE, fostering a community is pivotal. It is a space where we can build relationships with those not actively involved in the game. It also opens up new insights on what they are missing out on,” says PUBG Mobile Philippines Community Manager Gef Ferrer.

The Community Champions will be recruiting a total of 98 individuals throughout the country who will be appointed as Player #1. These chosen leaders will be supported by PUBG Mobile by providing them resources to operate and grow their community through tournaments, workshops, and gathering, all within the city or province that they are assigned in. “[Interested players] might have heard about PUBG MOBILE somewhere or read it on a website and felt the hype from their friends. Through Community Champions, they will learn from events and join a community that loves and enjoys playing the game,” Ferrer adds.

Activity Points that can redeem notable community titles, borders, avatars, outfits, and gun skins; Monthly UC; Bonus UC based on performance; Advanced Room Cards, and unique Community Champions merchandise, will be given to Player #1s as their perks, while for active Community members, they will receive Unknown Cash, in-game items, or PUBG Mobile merchandise for participation. On December, a Community Champions Tournament will commence where 17 regions will be competing to determine which is the Philippines’ #1 PUBG Mobile Community.

On the other hand, PUBG Mobile Philippines Marketing Manager Patricia Ysabelle Griño has acknowledged that the female gamers in the country has risen in number and that they need a space for them where they can play. “A lot of us are motivated by the sense of achievement and success through gameplay competition. Developing such community initiatives gives our female gamers a spotlight and a stepping stone to showcase their competitive spirit. It empowers other young girls and encourages an inclusive community among gamers,” Griño stated. “[Ladies Tournament] is the start of the many campaigns that we plan to launch to empower women in esports. Through PUBG MOBILE, we encourage women to take a stand and to show that they have what it takes to go up against anyone," Ferrer added.
