Arena Of Valor International Championship 2022 Group Stage Details Revealed

Garena and Level Infinite have jointly announced the Group Stage draw results for the Arena of Valor International Championship (AIC) 2022. Fans and players can look forward to the intense competition at one of Arena of Valor’s biggest international tournaments where 16 top teams across 10 regions gather at the virtual AIC arena to compete for the championship title and the biggest slice of the prize pool.

Kick off the AIC 2022 rivalry with “New Rivals, New Honor”
The theme for this year’s AIC 2022, “New Rivals, New Honor”, encapsulates the rising rivalry within the AoV community, as more up-and-coming young teams across new regions enter the battlefield to vie for the ultimate honor. AIC 2022 seeks to honor the grit and tenacity displayed by teams as they strive to overcome all odds in their journey to victory. The AIC 2022 will feature a total prize pool of US$2,000,000, which is the highest for AIC to date. The champion of AIC 2022 will not only win the highest honor of the top AoV eSports, but also walk away with US$700,000. The first runner-up will win US$350,000.

Results of the Group Stage draw
Hailing from across 10 regions, the 16 teams will be facing off their strongest opponents during the Group Stage from June 16-19, 2022. Fans and players can look forward to a dynamic viewing experience as teams showcase their best skills and strategy while scaling the championship ladder. The Group Stage will consist of 4 groups, each comprising of the following: Nova eSports, KFC x Talon, Team Flash, Starry Hope for Group A; Saigon Phantom, YaLLa eSports, ONE Team eSports, Valencia CF eSports for Group B; INFLUENCE RAGE, Bikertopia eSports, Dewa United eSports, A Dope Team for Group C; and MAD Team, V Gaming, Next RuyaRüya, Bacon Time for Group D.

AIC 2022 Tournament format
The AIC 2022 Group Stage will be split into 2 phases, where all matches will be played in a single round-robin format. Taking place on June 16 and 17, the first phase of the Group Stage will see matches being played in a Best-of-1 (BO1) format with the top 3 teams of each group advancing to phase 2. Phase 2 will then be played on June 18 and 19 with the top teams of each group advancing to the playoffs. Matches in phase 2 will be played in a Best-of-2 (BO2) format in which a result of 2-0 will earn the winning team 3 points and 0 points will go to the losing team. Tying 1-1 will give teams 1 point each. The global ban pick rules will also be implemented to enhance the strategy and pick diversity of the teams. The playoffs will comprise the Quarter Finals (June 23-26, 2022) and Semi Finals (July 2-3, 2022). The top four teams of each group from the Group Stage will be separated into four different matchups for the first round of the Quarter Finals. They will be going up against the teams with the second highest points of each group from the Group Stage by random through the Quarter Finals draw. Matches will be played in a double-elimination format. The losing teams will drop to the loser bracket where they will compete against other losing teams. The first round of the Quarter Finals will be played in the Best-of-5 format while the subsequent matches will be played in the Best-of-7 format. The top 2 final teams that fended all competition will meet once again at the Grand Final on July 10, 2022 to compete for the overall championship title.
