Enderun Colleges announced the first batch of winners for The Next Bright Idea, the first nationwide multimedia arts competition for students. The culmination was held virtually last May and was attended by an esteemed panel of judges comprised of Ivan Despi, Owner & Creative Director of The Acid House, Partner at Hydra Design Group, and Member of the Advisory Board at Enderun Colleges; Ivan Despi, Founding Partner at Plus63 and Hydra Design Group, Vice-President of Communication Design Association of the Philippines, and Member of the Advisory Board at Enderun Colleges; and Ali Silao, Head of Art at Seven AD, 7-time winner of the 4As Independent Agency of the Year.

The Next Bright Idea is Enderun Colleges’ decade-long country-wide competition that has produced some of the brightest and most talented high school students with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to generate innovative business ideas. Aside from the business pitch challenge, this year, The Next Bright Idea introduced the multimedia arts competition and welcomed young artists and visionaries from Grades 10 to 12. Competing under the theme "Creating a Better World for Filipinos Through Art", Yosef Christian Cuenca of the Philippine Science High School – CALABARZON Region Campus took the grand champion title in the multimedia arts category with his artwork entitled "Aktibista’y Artista, Hindi Terorista". “This project aims to shatter the misconceptions surrounding activism, that it is nothing but a nuisance in society that must be suppressed and silenced. Activism, in and of itself, is an art form — a creative expression of one’s desire to actively take part in speaking up for oneself and others.” Cuenca explained. He further added, “Activists themselves are artists in their own right, for what they create is a voice for the voiceless that paves the way for the betterment of the world for all Filipinos.”

According to Enderun Colleges’ President Edgardo Rodriguez, “For Enderun, The Next Bright Idea, as it is structured this year, is just the beginning. We are launching a whole new degree program in the multimedia arts this coming school year and will educate students in the dramatically progressive discipline of multimedia arts. At the same time, Enderun will introduce them to the ropes of entrepreneurship. The start of the new degree in multimedia arts education creates a new frontier — a fertile ground to feed and grow business as well as social enterprise. Also, the entrepreneurship mindset feeds imagination and creative thinking into the continuous depth of the multimedia arts [industry].” Breanna Alaras, Lakshya Chhattani, and Malakai Feliciano, representing Colegio San Agustin Makati, have also won the grand champion title in the business category for proposing a business plan that aims to help emerging Filipino artists get considerable online visibility and more consumers for their work. These students including Cuenca have outperformed nearly over a hundred participants from across the country.

The participating students also had the opportunity to attend master classes from renowned industry experts for free. Lead instructor for the business category was Prof. Ryan Morales, Program Head of the Entrepreneurship Program at Enderun Colleges while Mr. Ali Silao and Mr. Russel Molina, Chief Digital Officer and Founding Partner of advertising agency Seven AD conducted the master class for the multimedia arts competition. The business pitch category was attended by Mr. Donald Lim, Chief Operating Officer of DITO CME Holdings Corporation, Chief Innovation Officer of Udenna Corporation, Member of the MMA Advisory Board at Enderun Colleges, and regarded as one of the Philippines’ founding fathers of digital marketing; Mr. Larry Gamboa, Ph.D., bestselling author of Think Rich, Pinoy; and Ms. Lou Molina, Branding Consultant for Enderun Colleges and a social entrepreneur who gained recognition in the Netherlands and Sweden for her brand called Ecobloks toys.
