After its indefinite halt due to the continuing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic for more than two years, the Lyceum of the Philippines University - Batangas (LPU Batangas) brought back the Golden Laurel Batangas Province Media Awards where the best of television, online and print are determined based on the votes of the students and employees of LPU Batangas and partner schools across the province of Batangas. For this year's edition, as announced on LPU Batangas' official Facebook page, ABS-CBN bagged the most number of top honors with 16 awards while the Batangas academic community chose GMA Network as TV Station of the Year.
On the other hand, The Philippine Star was honored as the National Newspaper/Broadsheet of the Year while 99.1 Spirit FM Batangas, the premiere flagship FM radio station of Catholic Media Network (CMN) in Batangas, was awarded FM Radio Station of the Year. Cong TV and Alex Gonzaga were hailed as Best Male and Female Filipino Vlogger of the Year, respectively. GMA News Pillar Jessica Soho and actress Vilma Santos-Recto were honored as recipients of the Jose P. Laurel (JPL) and Dr. Sotero H. Laurel (SHL) Lifetime Achievement Awards, respectively, for their notable contributions in their respective fields. The awarding ceremony was held physically last August 4, 2022 inside the Freedom Hall, Sotero H. Laurel Building, LPU Batangas Campus situated within the provincial capitol with several personalities gracing the occasion including Best Drama Actress Jodi Sta. Maria, Female News Anchor of the Year and Best Public Service Program Host Bernadette Sembrano, and Lipa City Councilor Hon. Mikee Morada representing her wife and Filipino Female Vlogger of the Year Alex Gonzaga among others.
