BGYO joins this generation’s Darna in her flight against great danger with the group’s rousing rendition of “Patuloy Lang Ang Lipad", the main theme song of the new ABS-CBN Entertainment series “Mars Ravelo’s Darna". Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate’s latest P-pop offering conveys the excitement and confidence in the program’s titular character, Darna played by Jane De Leon, who embodies heroism, love, and compassion for the people of the fictional Nueva Esperanza.
Released a day before “Darna” simultaneously premiered on television and online last August 15 and now available on various digital streaming platforms, the soundtrack has already earned over 136,000 streams on Spotify and almost 100,000 views on YouTube. It also charted as the leading song on iTunes in the Philippines, Singapore, UAE, and Saudi Arabia immediately after release. BGYO performed the track in a live performance on “ASAP Natin ‘To” featuring the powerhouse cast of “Darna.” Kapamilya singer-songwriters Angela Ken, Trisha Denise, SAB, and Lian Kyla penned the lyrics of “Patuloy Lang Ang Lipad” with ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo who also produced the song.
The series meanwhile continues to be the talk of the town with viewers anticipating Darna’s challenging fights against Extras in the coming episodes and her growing friendship with Brian Robles (Joshua Garcia). Produced by ABS-CBN’s JRB Creative Production unit, “Darna” airs weeknights at 8:00 pm on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, CineMo, and TV5. 2022 Korean Film Festival Unreels In SM Cinemas

Members of the Korean community in Manila, K-film enthusiasts, and cultural advocates recently gathered together for the launch of the 2022 Korean Film Festival at SM Aura Premier. The festival then unreeled seven films in five SM Malls in Metro Manila, giving mallgoers a glimpse of Korean culture through movies. A joint project of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines, and SM Cinema, this year’s festival featured Korean films in different genres such as action, drama, mystery, comedy, and romance.
The presence of two directors who flew in from Korea — director Hong Wonchan of the festival’s opening film, Deliver Us from Evil, as well as Lee Woo Jung (Snowball) — highlighted the first in cinema film fest after two years. No less than H.E. Korean Ambassador Kim Inchul led the opening ceremony held at SM Aura Premier Cinema. During the Q&A with the media, Hong said that he was “overwhelmed that my film, Deliver Us from Evil, was chosen to be the opening film of the festival". He added that this was the first time to join a Korean Film Festival after two years of the pandemic and was happy to see his movie again on the big screen. Lee, on the other hand, expressed that she was looking forward to collaborations with Filipino filmmakers and actors. “It’s my first visit here and Filipinos are very hospitable and friendly," she said.

Korea’s booming film industry represents their country’s open-mindedness, nationalism, and creativity in storytelling, acting, and technological prowess. Apart from Deliver Us From Evil and Snowball, the other films in the 2022 Korean Film Festival included action-drama film Escape from Mogadishu by Ryu Seung-Wan, drama films Miracle: Letters to the President by Lee Jang-Hoon and The Novelist’s Film by Hong Sang-Soo, drama-mystery The Day I Died: Unclosed Case by Park Jiwan, and comedy-romance film Perhaps Love by Jo Eun-Ji. A total of seven films were screened simultaneously in five SM Malls including SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM City North EDSA, SM City Grand Central, and SM Southmall during the festival’s run.

ABS-CBN Entertainment's “The Broken Marriage Vow” emerged as the Best TV Format Adaptation (Scripted) in Asia at the prestigious 2022 ContentAsia Awards. Lead star Jodi Sta. Maria, who personally received the award with supervising producer Kylie Manalo-Balagtas at the awards night held in Bangkok, Thailand, dedicated the award to the whole team behind “The Broken Marriage Vow.”
“Nakakatuwa kasi kung iisipin mo, panalo ito ng lahat, ‘yung buong team na pinangunahan ng aming direktors na sina Connie Macatuno and Andoy Ranay,” she said in an interview with ABS-CBN News. She also lauded her co-stars who gave their best effort to make “The Broken Marriage Vow” a success, saying “it really takes a village to produce such an amazing series". “It’s really about showcasing Filipino talent sa buong Asya,” Jodi added.
“The Broken Marriage Vow” captured the hearts of viewers during its run, consistently ranking as the most viewed Asian drama on Viu in the Philippines. It also became widely talked about on social media with influencers spoofing iconic scenes in the series. The country’s adaptation of the hit “Doctor Foster” series aired on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, Jeepney TV, A2Z, TV5, iWantTFC, Cignal Play and The Filipino Channel (TFC) outside the Philippines also had a successful digital concert in April that celebrated the show’s official soundtrack.
