MILO To Support PSC-Batang Pinoy National Championships

Nestle Philippines Inc. (MILO) has agreed to support the forthcoming Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)-Batang Pinoy National Championships in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. PSC Chairman Jose Emmanuel “Noli” Eala and Nestle Philippines Business Executive Officer - Beverages and Confectionery Veronica Cruz signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) last November 28, 2022 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila. Also present were PSC Commissioner Olivia “Bong” Coo, PSC Accounting Chief Erik Jean Mayores, MILO Corporate Affairs Vice President Joey Uy, MILO Corporate Affairs lawyer DG Anastacio and Assistant Vice President for MILO Sports Carlo Sampan. The Batang Pinoy will be held on December 17-21, 2022.

“For Batang Pinoy to once again work with Nestle Philippines and MILO, is truly an honor, as well as a blessing for the Filipino youth. We hope that we can continue to interest Milo to be a strong partner for PSC, not only for Batang Pinoy but for our entire grassroots program,” Eala said. Cruz said Nestle Philippines Inc. (MILO) is honored to sponsor the tournament for athletes 15 years old and below. "MILO believes that sports is a great teacher. It is our privilege and honor to be sponsoring the Batang Pinoy and be its long-time partner. We are very excited that Batang Pinoy is happening again and we are one with you in igniting the Philippines to be active again and be energized," Cruz said. “You can count on us as we continue to grow grassroots sports, support our athletes and nourish kids' journey to success. We look forward to Batang Pinoy and all other collaborations we will have in the future,” she added.

The PSC hopes that with the help of sponsors like MILO, it can revive and strengthen its grassroots programs which has produced Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz and silver medalist Carlo Paalam and world champions Caloy Yulo and Phillip Delarmino. Meanwhile, PSC North Luzon sports coordinator Edwin Llanes and Batang Pinoy National Secretariat head Alona Quintos went to Vigan over the weekend for an ocular inspection and alignment meeting with the Ilocos Sur provincial government. Ilocos Sur LGU sports coordinator Ryan Vera-Cruz has assured the safety and comfort of all participating athletes. The annual Batang Pinoy, which was shelved for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, features 17 sports. Archery, athletics, badminton, chess, cycling, table tennis, swimming, weightlifting and obstacle course race (demonstration) will be played face-to-face while arnis, dancesport, judo, karate, muay, pencak silat, taekwondo and wushu will be conducted virtually. The on-site games will be streamed live on the PSC’s YouTube channel while virtual games will be shown on the said YouTube channel on December 11-15, 2022.
