The Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC), one of the oldest major radio and television networks in the Philippines, officially entered a new chapter in its 80-year-old history and a new era as it officially becomes MBC Media Group with its new identity and logo unveiled at its trade launch event held last February 6, 2024 at the Aliw Theater, CCP Complex, Pasay City. Present during the trade event were MBC Media Group's trusted partners whose collaborative efforts have been instrumental in achieving shared goals and fostering continuous growth as well as MBC Media Group Chairman Fred J. Elizalde with wife, Ballet Manila CEO and Artistic Director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde.
MBC Assistant Vice President for Digital Media Sasha Elizalde-Del Rosario described the transformation as “more than just a name change". She dubs it as “a strategic revolution, a reimagining of who we are and great potential we hold [as a company].” Meanwhile, MBC Senior Vice President for Operations Juan Elizalde then took a look back at the beginnings of the company as KZRH in 1939, which is the Philippines’ oldest radio station. He then shared how MBC expanded into the medium of television when it launched DZRH News Television — now known as DZRH TV — back in 2007. In the coming months, DZRH TV will expand its reach as it becomes available to digital free-to-air television not just in Visayas, but also in Mega Manila and all other major broadcast markets. Aside from its TV and Radio groups, MBC now also has divisions dedicated for Promos, Events, Talents, and Digital. Juan encapsulated in three ways how the strengthening of these Units play into the overall strategic vision and growth of the company: “Number one - bigger audience, better services, and more platforms to reach audiences. Number two – fully integrated campaigns on air, online, and on-ground. Number three – more ways to serve Filipinos, everywhere!”
The announcement of the company's rebranding was then made official by MBC Media Group President and Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Chairman Jun Nicdao, in which he considered it as a bold transformation that ushers in a new era. The company's new logo was also revealed. It features six ellipsis that symbolizes the six pillars that build the foundation of the MBC Media Group while the text color remained true to MBC Media Group’s traditional color palette which is blue and white. "Our new logo reflects fluidity as we evolved and adapt to the present and the future. It also represent soundwaves from our legacy business and signifies a wider digital reach. Our dear partners, our new brand name is a symbol of a bigger and stronger integrated media platforms to help you grow your businesses. For our audiences, it means more ways to serve them with information, entertainment, and community services. As our audiences grow, together we grow. Kaya Sama-Sama Tayo Pilipino," said Nicdao. MBC Media Group’s brand new logo opted for a sleeker, more modern design that resonates with the Filipino audience.
Serving as the launch campaign of the media powerhouse is “Sama-sama Tayo, Pilipino!”, an apt statement that echoes MBC Media Group’s call for unity towards the future, expressing a commitment to a common direction and collective success. Key officers and representatives from the 6 Strategic Business Units were present during the launch including DZRH Station Manager Atty. Rudolph Jularbal, Radyo Natin Vice President Jonathan Decena, and Assistant Vice President for FM Operations and Programming and MBC Events Unit Head Johnny “Ivan” Quiling representing MBC Radio; Chief Digital Officer Christian Dela Cruz, Digital Media Director for AM Radio Networks Jeffrey Joe Pe-Aguirre and Digital Media Manager for FM Radio Networks Riere Lavarez (Manager-Digital Media for FM Network) for MBC Digital; MBC TV Head of TV Production Rita Salonga; Vice President for Advertising and Promotions Irving Lisondra and Advertising and Promotions Director John Carl Galang for MBC Promos; and Assistant Vice President for Integrated Media and MBC Talents Head Vince Jaen. As the company transitions into its next era, MBC Media Group remains dedicated to delivering unparalleled news and entertainment and expanding horizons to reach new audiences.
