Sting Energy Drink energizes the Pinoy gaming community with the announcement of the Sting Olstar Showdown tournament where Filipino gamers can compete for a grand prize pool of Php500,000 by playing multiplayer online battle arena game DOTA 2 and online first-person shooter game Crossfire. The Sting Olstar Showdown tournament features an offline elimination stage slated to take place on June 15-July 7, 2024, followed by an online group stage to be held on July 13-14, 2024, to determine the top four teams advancing to the finals. The finals are set to take place at the Philippine Game Development Expo (PGDX) on July 26-27, 2024 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. In an effort to reconnect with the roots of eSports gaming, the Olstar Showdown tournament embraces the nostalgia of the 'good old days' when players would gather in internet cafes to compete in DOTA and Counter-Strike. By hosting the tournament in TNC Cyber Cafes and encouraging participation from the local gaming community, Sting hopes to revive this cherished experience and inspire a new generation of gamers to compete just like their predecessors did.
Aspiring Olstar Showdown competitors can register their teams during the Sting “Olstar sa Hataw” Roadshow, an eSports tour across selected TNC Cyber Cafes om June 4-9, 2024, where they will play against other teams and become energized by Sting. The participating TNC cyber cafes are TNC Morayta, TNC Marikina, and TNC Dasmariñas. Early registrants will receive a mousepad, lanyard, jersey and priority in the bracket. Sim reiterated, “We want to empower the next generation of gamers and aspiring eSports enthusiasts. Join Sting on this journey as we strive to elevate Pinoy gaming to its peak, setting new standards of performance and promoting the best gaming talent around.”
