Generation Pagod, a highly-renowned podcast hosted by Blogapalooza’s BX Talents Eryka Lucas and Ryan Tresplacios, achieves a major milestone as it lights up EDSA, one of Metro Manila’s busiest thoroughfares, with its very own billboard powered by Spotify. This huge achievement marks their growing influence and popularity in the podcast world. Having already topped the Philippine Spotify Podcast Chart with several episodes, the duo credits this incredible success to their devoted listeners and are thrilled to share this milestone with them.
What Is Generation Pagod?
Launched on Spotify on April 2, 2024, Generation Pagod has quickly become a beloved podcast. The podcast’s catchy tagline “We put the P in Thera-Py" perfectly sums up its essence: two friends openly discussing life’s realities, especially the ‘pagod’ moments. Eryka and Ryan’s genuine, down-to-earth approach resonates deeply with their audience. As full-time workers, they get the daily grind and the struggles faced by their listeners, mostly millennials and older Gen Zs. The podcast prides itself in being inclusive and being a welcoming community for anyone needing a break after a long day. “Sa lahat ng kapaguran, kami ang magiging pahinga niyo,” they promise. With over 31 million impressions and more than 85 thousand plays on Spotify, the recently concluded first season has been a smash hit with its 12 episodes. Their eighth episode, ‘Generation Please', has the highest number of plays to date. The podcast is also available for streaming on Facebook and YouTube via BlogaPlay.
Where it started
The idea for ‘Generation Pagod’ was born after a particularly exhausting workday for Eryka and Ryan. Eryka explained, “Noong nag-iisip kami kung anong podcast [topic] ang makaka-relate lahat, na-realize namin na ang common denominator ay lahat [ng tao] ay may kanya-kanyang pagod." Even though it was their first time working together, they found an instant connection through their shared experiences and struggles as young working adults. Recording the podcast turned out to be therapeutic, feeling more like two friends casually hanging out, sharing their stories. Their personal journeys laid the foundation for their collaboration.
The unique appeal
What sets Eryka and Ryan apart is their professional hosting skills combined with their authenticity and honesty. Eryka shared, “I elevate influence by being honest, by being true. Mas influential ka kapag nagpapakatotoo ka.” Eryka shared. Ryan added, “Trademark ko na rin sa sarili ko to be authentic." They boldly tackle topics others might find awkward or difficult, ensuring each episode leaves listeners with valuable takeaways. Their mission is to inspire others to overcome challenges by sharing their own stories. “Gusto kong maging beacon of hope ang episodes,” expressed Eryka. They envision their podcast as a sanctuary for their listeners.
Future plans & a piece of advice
Eryka and Ryan gear up for Season 2, promising more personal touches and segments where listeners can send in their questions. The new season will also feature guest appearances including some of their listeners. They also expressed their dream to collaborate with ‘Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast’ and to have guests like Davao Conyo, Fonz, and Mimiyuuuh on the show. The duo attributes their success to their amazing production team, loyal listeners, and the heartfelt stories they share. Their advice for aspiring podcasters? Be true to yourself and own your story. Ryan shared, “Kung authentic ka sa content mo and the influence you provide to others, hindi ka mapapagod kasi ‘yun ka– wala kang pagpapanggap. This is purely just us enjoying our everyday lives.
