Global audio streaming platform Spotify revealed that Filipino music streams have quadrupled over the past five years with 75 percent of Spotify's Philippines' Top 50 charts now comprising of local tracks. Pinoy Hip-Hop has seen a massive 600 percent increase in global daily streams over the past five years. Meanwhile, P-Pop experienced a 138 percent year-on-year increase in streams on Spotify in the past year alone. Speaking at Spotify Lounge: Philippine Edition, Spotify Southeast Asia's Head of Music Kossy Ng said, "Pinoy music continues to reach new fans across genres and borders. Spotify not only delivers an unparalleled, personalized music experience for listeners, but also serves as the platform for artists to grow their audience and build deep connections with their fans."
To mark 10 years of local music's growth on Spotify, the platform launched its refreshed Pinoy Music Hub featuring 50 editorial playlists that drive culture and champion artist discovery. Pinoy Music Hub is packed with the latest genre hits in Tatak Pinoy, KALYE, and P-Pop On The Rise alongside timeless favorites from OPM Hits of the '80s, '90s, and 2000s. It even offers soundtracks for every mood, from Kilig Pa More to Hugot, Panalo, and more. With a growing creator economy and fan-driven music culture, Spotify's features such as playlists, personalized recommendations, and its ability to share their favorite songs and lyrics on social media also fuel fan support. Celebrating a decade of Pinoy music at the Spotify Lounge: Philippine Edition, Spotify brought together the music industry and community, featuring live performances from Ben&Ben and RADAR artists Illest Morena and Maki, last October 8, 2024 at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premier, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
On the other hand, Ben&Ben and Moira Dela Torre were honored as Spotify's inaugural decade definers for their record-breaking hits that have resonated with fans. "Tadhana" by Up Dharma Down, "Kathang Isip" and "Maybe The Night" by Ben&Ben, "Pano" (Zack Tabudlo), "Ikaw Lang" (Nobita), "Paraluman" (Adie), "Mahika" (Adie and Janine Berdin), "Mundo" and "Come Inside Of My Heart" by IV Of Spades, "Pasilyo" (SunKissed Lola), "Kung 'Di Rin Lang Ikaw" (December Avenue and Moira Dela Torre), "Pagsamo" and "Isa Lang" by Arthur Nery, and "Kung Wala Ka" (Hale) were also spotlighted for making a mark in the music industry. Rising stars Hev Abi and Maki, which are part of Spotify's RADAR slate, were celebrated for their innovative sounds and styles, shaping the next wave of Pinoy Music.
