FIBA Europe has officially announced its partnership with DAZN, the leading global sports entertainment platform, as the official global broadcast partner of EuroLeague Women, the premier women’s basketball competition in Europe where 16 clubs from across the continent – featuring some of the best female players on the planet – compete across an Autumn-Spring league. The format for the competition was recently revamped ahead of the 2024-25 season with the Regular Season now split into two rounds to bring even more high-stakes action to fans of the league.
Initially competing in four groups of four during the First Round, the bottom-placed sides will exit and move to EuroCup Women while the other 12 clubs will then continue to the Second Round. Fans will then get to enjoy the introduction of Play-ins and a first ever Final Six where the eventual champion will be determined. DAZN will play a role in bringing this new and improved competition to fans around the world as a global broadcast partner for the league. With two EuroLeague Women games per gameday streamed on the platform for free including a DAZN-exclusive Game of the Week, the global profile of the league will grow as content from the competition reaches more fans. DAZN’s unrivalled scale, global footprint and significant basketball audience is uniquely positioned to help build an engaged fanbase for EuroLeague Women with both DAZN and the league committed to growing the product through collaborative content production and marketing.
DAZN Co-Chief Executive Officer of Women's Sport Hannah Brown said, “DAZN can offer leagues and federations what no one else can – unparalleled global reach via our digitally native, free and engaging environment. We are delighted to be working alongside EuroLeague Women to build an exciting future for women’s basketball – one which has untapped athletic, fan and commercial potential.” The partnership underscores FIBA Europe’s commitment to expanding the reach of women’s basketball on a global scale in line with FIBA’s strategic priorities to grow the game and elevate women’s sports worldwide. “We are thrilled to partner with DAZN, a global leader in sports streaming, to further elevate EuroLeague Women. This agreement aligns with our strategic vision to strengthen women’s basketball by bringing our top-level competition to an even broader audience, showcasing the incredible basketball talent in Europe,” said FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa. FIBA Europe Executive Director Kamil Novak said, “Women in basketball is a strategic priority for FIBA and the impressive digital growth of EuroLeague Women underscores our collective efforts to elevate the sport. The partnership with DAZN signifies that EuroLeague Women has developed into a brand of substantial value, reflecting the ever-growing recognition of the property in the global women’s basketball landscape.”
This partnership follows the league’s unprecedented digital success in recent seasons with the competition also recognized as one of the top global sports properties for search growth according to the 2024 SportOnSearch report powered by Redtorch. Through its agreement with FIBA which includes Courtside 1891, DAZN also streams live FIBA games including FIBA Basketball World Cups and all FIBA Continental Cup competitions. DAZN users can also enjoy live and on-demand regional competitions such as the Basketball Champions League, and the Intercontinental Cup, as well as a slate of other top tier national basketball competitions, such as the NBA, SLB, NBL, Serie A Basket and more. EuroLeague Women content will be positioned alongside these competitions and other free-to-watch content, marketed to both its main subscriber base and basketball enthusiasts globally.
