The Philippines is gearing up to host the FIVB Men’s World Championship 2025 for the first time as a solo host, promising a welcoming atmosphere that will make athletes, coaches, and fans feel right at home. The event, scheduled to be held on September 12-28, 2025, will take place at the iconic SM Mall of Asia Arena and Smart Araneta Coliseum. Ramon “Tats” Suzara, president of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) and the newly elected president of the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), expressed the country’s excitement and readiness during the 39th FIVB World Congress in Porto, Portugal, proudly sharing, “We can’t get enough of volleyball. The Philippines is a country that loves volleyball. Filipino volleyball fans set the standard with their energy, passion, and unparalleled support.”
Suzara highlighted the nation’s successful hosting of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) for three consecutive years which drew an average attendance of 8,000 fans per game and a record-breaking crowd of 19,000 last June. He said, “The rest of the world will see just how much we love volleyball. We warmly welcome anyone who plays the game, making even foreign players and fans feel at home. In the Philippines, volleyball transcends borders.” Under Suzara’s leadership, the Philippine men’s volleyball team has risen from 117th to 64th in the world rankings, showcasing the nation’s growing competence in the sport. With the FIVB Men’s World Championship 2025 approaching, the PNVF is set to deliver a world-class experience that celebrates both the sport and the vibrant culture of the Filipino people.
On the other hand, Suzara continues to make waves in global volleyball leadership as he has now been named Executive Vice President (EVP) of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) during the recent World Congress. Suzara will serve as EVP for four years under the leadership of the federation's newly-elected president Fabio Azevedo which further complements his responsibilities as President of PNVF and AVC. “It’s a great distinction and honor to be named as executive vice president of the FIVB because it will give Philippine volleyball great opportunities ahead. Not only will our national teams benefit, but the entire Philippine volleyball community,” said Suzara. He expressed gratitude to Azevedo as well as former FIVB president Dr. Ary Graça for entrusting him with this prestigious position.
Joining Suzara at the said congress were PNVF Vice President and Sports Vision President and CEO Ricky Palou, Secretary-General Donaldo “Don” Caringal, and Director Tonyboy Liao, representing the Philippines' commitment to elevate volleyball in the country to new heights and showcasing the country's readiness to bring world-class volleyball to the forefront. This significant development is expected to open more doors for Philippine volleyball, fostering development and international recognition.
