There’s consistently strong demand for skilled HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) technicians, and TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) is actively bridging the gap between current training and industry needs. This creates an exciting opportunity to enhance training programs by focusing on more hands-on experience with modern HVAC equipment. By doing so, TESDA is empowering more graduates to successfully enter and thrive in this in-demand field, directly contributing to a robust workforce and a growing economy. In line with this, TCL, the leading consumer electronics brand, No. 1 spot on Panel TV in the Philippines and the Triple Global Top 1 TV Brand, has initiated a partnership with TESDA Regional Training Center (RTC)-NCR in helping bridge the gap in technical workforce. By conducting TCL-led technical training and supporting career placement through a clear enrollment-to-employment pathway, this initiative is positioned not just as a one-time program but as a long-term, impactful collaboration.

Beyond providing appliances and equipment, TCL’s core objective is to equip learners with practical, real-world skills that enhance employability and long-term productivity. This program empowers aspiring Filipino technicians while directly supporting the country’s national workforce development agenda. By doing so, TCL reinforces its role as a key industry enabler — actively shaping the future of air conditioning and technical expertise in the Philippines, and generating meaningful economic and social impact along the way. “We are very happy to collaborate with TESDA Regional Training Center–NCR, offering trainees in their DOMRAC program practical experience to cultivate industry-relevant technical skills. TCL’s aspiration is to foster greatness among these students and to be a source of inspiration for all. We envision this partnership enduring for many years to come,” said TCL Philippines Deputy Director of Air Conditioner and B2B Business Bert Cheung. The partnership was recently sealed during the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement held at the newly built TESDA-TCL Center which was attended by key officials of TCL Philippines including Deputy Director of Airconditioner and B2B Business Bert Cheung, Deputy Director of Marketing Shae Yu Xiaoling and Brand Manager Mr. Joseph Cernitchez together with TESDA-NCR Assistant Regional Director Cariza A. Dacuma, TESDA MuntiParLasTaPat (Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Taguig, Pateros) District Director Maria Gracia P. Dela Rama and RTC-NCR Center Administrator Eugene P. Agcaoili.

Beyond the training provided by TCL Air Conditioning service experts, TESDA trainees will gain invaluable hands-on experience in a dedicated training hub called TESDA–TCL Center. This facility will be fully equipped with advanced TCL appliances, allowing them to develop highly industry-relevant technical skills. Designed as a comprehensive launchpad for learning, the center will feature two key areas: a fully functional hands-on training space and a modern lecture room. Central to the partnership is the establishment of a specialized training room where trainees can engage in practical exercises such as assembling, installing, and servicing TCL air conditioning units. This hands-on component is vital in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and actual fieldwork, equipping students with the competencies needed to thrive in the workforce. Aside from the training room, a modern lecture facility will also be provided. This space will be fully equipped with TCL televisions and air conditioning units, creating a comfortable and up-to-date environment for technical learning and skill development. TCL is also committed to enhancing other TESDA facilities. They’ll be donating modern appliances, including TVs, refrigerators, and air conditioning units. This direct contribution will foster a more productive training environment, ensuring students gain valuable experience with current technology. Agcaoili expressed, “TESDA is fortunate to partner with TCL once again, and we wholeheartedly welcome this promising collaboration, which arrives at a truly opportune moment. TCL’s generous donation of equipment and training will be invaluable in providing our trainees with the essential hands-on experience they need for their future careers. We’re also very excited about the potential for Training-To-Employment (T2E) opportunities, which will benefit a significant number of our trainees. We truly hope this partnership will continue for many years to come.”

They provided a short tour of its location, showcasing the specially designed rooms’ layout and functionality. “At TCL, we believe in giving back to the community that has helped us achieve our global standing as a leader in consumer electronics. Through this initiative, we aim to empower more individuals to become highly skilled workers and excel in the industry,” says TCL Philippines Brand Manager Joseph Cernitchez.
