The Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) recently announced the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Japan’s TOHAN Corporation and South Korea’s Contents Lab. Blue Co. Ltd. (CLB), marking the start of long-term partnerships to jointly promote Taiwanese comics and webtoons on the global stage. As Japan and South Korea’s comic industries increasingly recognize the growing potential of Taiwanese creators and the commercial opportunities of their content, the new collaborations will focus on joint development, co-production, and sales initiatives, creating more avenues for cross-border cooperation and the global expansion of original Taiwanese works.

The signing ceremony took place last November 6, 2025 on the Salon Stage of the 2025 Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF), attended by TAICCA CEO Erica Wang, TOHAN Senior Executive Director Ono Seiki, CLB CEO Young-to Go, CLB Tokyo CEO Hanamiya Mai, and Taiwanese comic industry representatives. Standing before an enthusiastic crowd, Wang shared that TAICCA has previously collaborated with TOHAN and CLB and at TCCF, they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to combine TOHAN’s extensive distribution network with CLB’s expertise in webtoon production. The partnership aims to build a long-term foundation for the industry and bring Taiwan’s content to international audiences. TOHAN Corporation, Japan’s largest book distributor, maintains close networks with major publishers including Shueisha and Kodansha, as well as bookstores and retail channels nationwide. In recent years, it has actively expanded beyond distribution into a wide range of ventures, including overseas operations, cross-media adaptation, and promotional activities. In August and September this year, TAICCA and TOHAN co-organized Taiwan comics showcases in Japan and Thailand, successfully attracting strong local industry interest and highlighting the cultural appeal and market potential of original Taiwanese comics. Building on this foundation, the two parties will now deepen their collaboration by leveraging TOHAN’s strengths in the publishing ecosystem and distribution network to further enhance the international visibility of Taiwanese comics, novels, and webtoons through marketing campaigns and promotional events.

At the signing ceremony, Seiki remarked that Taiwan’s spirit of creative freedom has cultivated generations of exceptional writers and creators, with new talents continuing to emerge. TOHAN and Taiwan TOHAN are partnering with TAICCA to advance the shared vision of “From Taiwan To Japan, And From Taiwan To The World”, working together to deliver meaningful results. South Korea’s CLB is a leading webtoon studio renowned for its professional expertise in original webtoon production. With offices in Japan, Thailand, and North America, CLB maintains close partnerships with global comic platforms and digital distributors, giving it a strong international presence. Popular titles produced by CLB include The Swordmaster’s Son, Solitary Lady, and Necromancer Academy And The Genius Summoner. Its Japanese subsidiary, Contents Lab. Blue Tokyo, previously collaborated with TAICCA on co-producing webtoons adapted from the original novels The Perfect Way To Get Your Dog Back and C-Class Esper’s Memorandum, both of which received positive feedback from Taiwanese readers.

Moving forward, TAICCA will collaborate with CLB on the co-production and development of webtoons, creating more opportunities for Taiwanese creators to gain professional production experience and market exposure, while further strengthening the international visibility of original Taiwanese content. Go noted that Taiwanese comics stand out in the Asian market for their distinctive storytelling and artistic style. He expressed CLB’s eagerness to work hand in hand with Taiwanese creators to promote more international co-productions and digital publishing projects, bringing Taiwan’s creative energy to the global market and building a long-term, stable foundation for collaboration between the South Korean and Taiwanese content industries.
