Filipino food creator Abi Marquez, widely known as the Lumpia Queen and managed by NYMA Talent Management, is featured in Being Gordon Ramsay, the recently released Netflix documentary series following world-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay during a pivotal period of expansion in his career. In Episode 4, Abi is seen being interviewed by the Netflix documentary team following her collaboration with Ramsay, offering insight into the experience and reflecting on the exchange between cultures, techniques, and perspectives in the kitchen. Entertainment Meets Education: How The Puregold Channel Revitalizes ‘Last-Mile’ Schools In PH

In a move that aims to revitalize the Philippines' ‘last mile’ schools, Puregold Price Club Inc. President Vincent Co is investing the total streaming revenue of the Puregold Channel on YouTube in his personal initiative, the Pusong Panalo Program. The program seeks to aid underserved public schools nationwide through interventions that address both immediate needs and structural gaps including solar panels for schools with limited access to electricity, livelihood packages for teachers, grocery support for students, classroom renovations, and assorted learning equipment and aspires to reach at least 10,000 students in 30 public schools around the archipelago by 2028.
The Puregold Channel on YouTube serves as the company’s hub for its “retailtainment” (retail + entertainment) strategy, an integrated content ecosystem spanning free digital series, music collaborations with leading OPM artists, and original Filipino storytelling through the annual Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival. The channel has surpassed 300,000 subscribers, earning YouTube’s Silver Play Button and establishing itself as one of the most robust brand-owned media platforms in Philippine retail. But the metric that matters most is not just Puregold Channel‘s subscriber growth. Vincent’s success with these “retailtainment” ventures has allowed him to direct more resources towards one of the company’s strongest advocacies. Every view on the channel translates into revenue, and every peso of that revenue is reinvested in public education. With this model, audience engagement is no longer a vanity metric; it is a funding mechanism. Performance drives purpose, scale enables service.
For Vincent Co, the convergence of business growth and social investment is not a communications narrative but a leadership mandate. “Retailtainment”, in this context, is not merely a growth lever, but a means to mobilize capital toward outcomes that endure beyond quarterly performance. Under Vincent Co’s stewardship, Puregold content with a social impact is not treated as a byproduct of success, but as one of its clearest indicators.

Songs For Selina Coming To PH Cinemas On March 18, 2026

The musical-themed drama film Songs For Selina is officially coming to Philippine cinemas on March 18, 2026. Previously picked up by Amazon Prime US and Tubi for its North American release last year, the film delivers a harrowing yet grounded portrayal of the music industry’s grim realities. Songs For Selina stars Mica Javier and Rachel Coates as Selina and Maya — musical soulmates whose bond is fractured by the unforgiving and cutthroat nature of the industry they once dreamed of conquering together.
Jay R, CEO of Homeworkz Entertainment and the R& B singer behind enduring hits such as Sining and Bakit Pa Ba, shares, “The entire film is deeply personal. It draws from our own lived experiences, the stories of our peers, and the unspoken truths that quietly exist within the industry. As artists ourselves, we understand the fear of being marginalized or blacklisted for addressing uncomfortable truths, especially in systems where power is unevenly distributed. That vulnerability is precisely why we chose to tell this story through film and music.” Jay R, who served as one of the film’s executive producers, highlights the importance of independent storytelling in an industry often driven by commercial considerations. The King of R&B notes, “Major studios and networks are not the only path. There is a space for us, and it’s time we collectively step into it — to strengthen, diversify, and elevate the state of our entertainment industry.”
Presented by Homeworkz Entertainment and distributed in the Philippines by Black Cap Pictures, Songs For Selina features an ensemble cast that also includes Rachel Alejandro, Audie Gemora, Nicole Laurel, Leanne Mamonong, Gian Magdangal, and Jay R himself who also co-wrote and produced the film’s original motion picture soundtrack which features solo and duet performances by lead stars Mica Javier and Rachel Coates. Jay R reveals, “The tracks were very much inspired by my own career, which made the songwriting process feel natural and intuitive. Each song was carefully shaped to serve the story — tailoring the lyrics and emotion to the script so that the music actively moves the narrative forward.”
