Getting a loan is only part of the customer journey. Paying it back should be just as simple. That’s why Skyro, an SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission)-registered financing company in the Philippines, has partnered with Netbank, the country’s leading Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform, to provide customers with seamless, real-time, and secure loan payment options. The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing led by Skyro President Anthony Co and Payments Product Manager Daniil Murzabaev. Joining them were Netbank Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Iann Sicat, Head of Cash Lenders, Amiel de Sotto, Head of Mobile Banking Maria Julieta Cunanan, and Head of BaaS Product Jerrald Solano.

Through the partnership, Skyro customers can enjoy a more convenient repayment experience through supported banking and e-wallet channels. Whether paying for a gadget or appliance through a Skyro Product Loan, covering financial needs with a Skyro Cash Loan, or making everyday purchases with SkyroCredit, the integration of Netbank’s payment solutions helps ensure every payment is processed efficiently and reliably. For Co, the partnership signifies Skyro’s commitment to expand financial access for many more Filipinos. “By partnering with Netbank, we’re taking another step toward building a more efficient and customer-centric digital financial ecosystem. This collaboration enables us to deliver an even smoother, simpler, and more secure experience while advancing financial inclusion by expanding access to financial services for unbanked and underserved Filipinos. Together, we’re helping improve the financial well-being of more borrowers through financial solutions that fit their everyday lives.” Likewise, Sicat emphasized that good infrastructure isn’t measured by how visible it is but by how consistently it performs. With Netbank’s cash management infrastructure, Skyro can deliver better repayment services to its customers. “Our cash management infrastructure helps make collections, reconciliation, and payment processing more efficient. That allows Skyro to focus on its customers while we ensure the banking operations behind every payment remain reliable,” said Sicat.

Skyro’s partnership with Netbank reflects its broader mission of bringing hope, happiness, and financial support to Filipinos nationwide. As it continues to grow, the fintech company remains committed to leveraging advanced data analytics, artificial intelligence, a digital-first platform, and an extensive retail partner network to deliver product loans, cash loans, and a digital credit line that help Filipinos access credit in ways that suit their needs, lifestyles, and financial goals.

LG Electronics’ (LG) InstaView™ refrigerator, which allows users to see inside without opening the door, has reached a major milestone on its 10th anniversary, surpassing 5.3 million units in cumulative global sales since its launch in 2016. Since launching the LG InstaView refrigerator in 2016, LG has sold a remarkable 5.3 million units – equivalent to selling roughly one unit every minute.

The LG InstaView refrigerator has seen strong customer demand globally with North America representing its strongest market and accounting for about 30 percent of cumulative sales to date. In Europe, the InstaView refrigerator has also been well received by consumers who place high value on energy efficiency, sustainability and food preservation performance. Sales are also steadily rising in Asia and Latin America, driven by growing demand for premium appliances. InstaView redefined how consumers interact with their refrigerators by allowing them to see inside without opening the door. This feature allows users to check the fridge’s contents without opening the door and helps reduce unnecessary cold-air loss associated with frequent door opening. Over the past decade, its innovation has been recognized by international media and honored with numerous accolades from major global design and innovation awards including the Red Dot Design Award, iF Design Award, IDEA, and the CES Innovation Award. LG’s analysis of global customer reviews shows that consumer appreciation for the InstaView refrigerator and its eponymous feature has evolved over time, shifting from an initial focus on the functional benefits to the overall sense of satisfaction that it provides. While early feedback centered on the convenience of knocking twice to see inside and the reduction of cold air loss, more recent reviews increasingly highlight InstaView’s refined design and the enjoyment it brings to everyday kitchen use.

“For a decade now, LG InstaView refrigerator has stood as a testament to our leadership in the home appliance market and to our deep understanding of customers’ lifestyles. This milestone reflects our success in creating not just an innovative feature, but a more convenient and enjoyable kitchen experience. Building on our advanced AI, refrigeration and food preservation technologies, we will continue to lead the evolution of the kitchen experience with customer-centric innovations,” said LG Home Appliance Solution Company President Baek Seung-tae.

(Image Source: Mindanao Times/Smart Communications Inc.)

Metro Cebu is taking a major step toward smarter and more responsive public service with the rollout of the AI-In-A-Box (AIAB) program of PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications Inc. (Smart). AI-In-A-Box is the PLDT Group’s initiative to make artificial intelligence (AI) more accessible to communities. The program combines digital tools, connectivity, training, and mentorship to help local government units turn emerging technologies into practical solutions. As part of the initiative, participating LGUs received an AI-In-A-Box kit that includes a laptop, a smartphone, a Smart connectivity device, and premium access to AI tools, including ChatGPT.

In a simple ceremony at the Cebu City Hall, Mayor Nestor Archival received the AI-In-A-Box package on behalf of the local government of Cebu City from PLDT and Smart represented by First Vice President and Head of Public Engagement and Corporate Communications Roby Alampay and Assistant Vice President and Head of Stakeholder Engagement Stephanie V. Orlino. The rollout successfully extends across Metro Cebu, including Lapu-Lapu City and Talisay City, which also received their respective AIAB packages. Key personnel from all three cities have undergone specialized training to strengthen their internal AI capabilities and identify practical applications of AI in local government work. “We at PLDT and Smart believe that technology should help enhance the delivery of public service. Through the AI-in-a-Box Program, we affirm our commitment in assisting LGUs level up service delivery through a more citizen-focused, practical, secure, and innovative technology,” said Alampay. As one of the four pioneer participant cities in the country, Cebu City proudly represents the entire Visayas region in a mentorship and acceleration program organized by PLDT and Smart with support from the group’s social outreach arm, the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF). This mentorship program is specifically designed to help local offices transform conceptual ideas into practical, real-world AI solutions for faster, more responsive governance. Through the program, participating Cebu City personnel will receive guidance as they develop and deploy AI-enabled solutions that respond to specific needs in their communities.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Mayor Archival warmly welcomed the program, noting that it is heartening for Cebu City to be selected as a pioneer participant and the sole representative from the Visayas. He emphasized that through PLDT and Smart’s AI-in-a-Box program the city will strengthen its use of innovation and AI solutions to deliver faster, more efficient, and more compassionate service to the people of Cebu. By bridging the gap between advanced technology and localized public service, this initiative underscores PLDT and Smart’s broader commitment to fostering digital inclusion across the Philippines. As these local government units integrate AI into their daily workflows, the program aims to establish a scalable blueprint for digital governance that can be replicated in other provinces, ultimately driving nationwide development through shared technological progress.
