Hiphop dance groups representing three stars and a sun were able to best teams from 50 countries in the recently concluded 2017 Hiphop World Championships held in Phoenix, Arizona last August 7-2, 2017, with University of the Philippines' UPeepz having their second straight championship title in the Megacrew Division after topping the competition last year.
But that's not all. It looks like UPeepz is not the only dance group topping the competition. Other Filipino hiphop dance groups Legit Status and The Alliance made it to the division's top five with the former winning third place in the tilt while the ladder is satisfied with the fifth spot. Gaining the top 2 spot in the division which required 15 to 40 members on stage is Dominican Republic's Da' Republik Crew. But the credit would go to the UP Diliman hiphop dance squad which became a fan favorite in the competition after delivering a sharp and seamless performance that lessen their risks after placing second in the semi-finals and eventually captured the hearts of guests and attendants.
Aside from the groups in the Megacrew Division, other Philippine groups are doing well in their respective divisions with Kingsmen and Legit Status making their way to the finals of the varsity division which required five to nine members and Lil' Peepz comprising of UPeepz' youngest members reaching the grand finals of the juniors division where participating dancers are between 7 to 12 years old. These achievements are surely worth the hardship for the 230 dancers representing the Philippines who were chosen and sent by Hiphop International Philippines and competing against some of the best dancers in the world.
