The world of video games is set to welcome the sixth installment of one
of the most popular fighting game franchises today as Marvel vs. Capcom
Infinite grace gaming shops around the world by September. And there are lots
of reasons why Filipino gamers should anticipate the coming of this highly-intriguing
fighting game slated to be released for the PlayStation 4.
For those who are not familiar with Marvel vs. Capcom, it is a
crossover fighting game with interesting features and characters from two different
worlds that are made for pop culture buffs. Anyway, gaming critics and enthusiasts
have mixed reactions on the game as it nears its official release. So, before you
make your own reaction on the new fighting game, here are some of the features
that can make you consider pre-ordering.
1. Back To Roots
MvC Infinite will have the game return to its roots compared to
previous installments, and that would be the traditionally engaging two-on-two
combat which made the 1999 arcade classic one to be reckoned with during its
time. In addition to the return of the 2-on-2 format, the game will feature an
active freeform-like tag system where the player can switch between his or her
two characters and execute combos to their opponents even on air.
2. Simplicity Is The Key
One thing I like about the original Marvel vs. Capcom is the Easy Mode
where the player can easily perform special and super moves with a press of a button,
and MvC Infinite is making playing fighting games simple and more engaging with
the inclusion of the auto combo feature where it takes a light punch button for
anyone playing the game to perform special moves without hurting their own
fingers and thumbs on the directional pad.
3. Infinity Stones
One of the most surprising things that can make fighting game lovers
fall in love with MvC Infinite is the addition of Infinity Stones which are
similar to the power gems of Marvel Superheroes. After selecting the
characters, players must choose one Infinity Stone that will be used in their
match. During the match, they can activate their own Infinity Burst move
depending on the stone they have chosen. Wow, this is something that any rookie
gamer should understand once they purchase the game.
4. A Mixed Bag of Characters
The very first trailer of Infinite featured Captain Marvel, Ironman,
Ryu and Megaman X as the game's first officially confirmed characters. But when
I read about MvC Infinite on Wikipedia, I was surprised to learn and realize
that the character lineup is probably the major reason why the game is a mixed
bag prior to its worldwide release. Many of the characters in the Marvel side
are from the ever-popular Marvel Cinematic Universe while Capcom's side is
filled with familiar and unfamiliar characters straight from the company's
gaming properties. Still, it is delightfull to see some of our favorite MvC
characters in the roster like Strider Hiryu and Ghost Rider.
