Guillermo Mendoza Scholarship Foundation (GMMSF) Inc. is bringing back the highly prestigious Box Office Entertainment Awards for its 52nd edition set to be held on May 12, 2024 at the Henry Lee Irvin Theater, Ateneo De Manila University in Loyola Heights, Quezon City. This marks the grand return of the award-giving body after five years since its last edition back in 2019 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and its effects and impact that affected the local entertainment industry. The GMMSF Box Office Entertainment Awards honors and recognizes various Filipino entertainment personalities based on the popularity and commercial success of their recent projects across movies, music and television.

On the 52nd edition of the GMMSF Box Office Entertainment Awards, the reel-and-real-life couple of Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and Queen Marian Rivera-Dantes will be hailed as Box Office Phenomenal Stars of Philippine Cinema for the monumental success of their comeback film "Rewind". Star Cinema's 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) and 2024 Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) entry is now the highest-grossing Filipino movie of all time and the first to reach the Php1B box-office gross sales mark. Dingdong and Marian will also be hailed as the Most Popular Love Team for Movies. Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, who were previously the Box Office Phenomenal Stars of Philippine Cinema for the success of their first team-up via the 2019 Star Cinema movie "Hello, Love, Goodbye", will be bestowed upon them the Box Office Queen and King award for their respective movies - "A Very Good Girl" for Kath with veteran award-winning actress Dolly De Leon and "Five Breakups And A Romance" with versatile actress Julia Montes.

Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual are Film Actors of the Year for their exemplary performances in the 2023 MMFF entries "Rewind" and "Mallari" while veteran actress Vilma Santos-Recto's comeback to the big screen via 2023 MMFF entry "When I Met You In Tokyo" with Christopher De Leon is enough for GMMSF to name her Film Actress Of The Year. Meanwhile, GMA Network garners the most number of wins in the television categories headlined by "Maria Clara At Ibarra" and "Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap" while Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, known as the Kapamilya tandem DonBelle, will be crowned the Prince and Princess of Philippine Entertainment.
