The Department of Tourism (DOT) in the Philippines recently launched an information campaign that aims to warn local travelers and domestic tourists on fake and illegitimate travel agencies offering deals for both local and international destination that are too good to be true, and its move is considered good timing with the summer season in the country fast approaching.
With the number of fake travel agencies continue to rise, the tourism department urged the public to be vigilant and cautious when dealing with these fakers. In fact, DOT undersecretary Alma Rita Jimenez informed travelers and tourists to be WISE on preparing their own summer plans. In tourism terms, WISE stands for four ways on how to make any travel itinerary successful. And they are as follows:

    - Work out your travel plans.
    - Identify your tour/travel agencies.
    - See if they are accredited.
    - Engage only those verified.

Travelers may go to the official website of the Department of Tourism and check if the travel agency is legitimate and is officially accredited by the agency. Meanwhile, for payments, it is best for anyone to be diligent in paying for your chosen travel packages before you become another victim of an illegitimate travel offer.

With that in mind, the Department of Tourism (DOT) assures travelers and domestic tourists that they can enjoy their own summer vacation once they learn how to be WISE.
