In a world that continues to be dominated by men, it would seem that women are starting to make a name for themselves and may contribute more to the economy than their own male counterparts. In the Philippines, women who are likely to start their own businesses could have great benefits and contributions to the nation's growing economy, but there are hindrances that they need to endure before making success in their own fields.

According to a Facebook poll, 87 percent of Filipino women surveyed would like to set up their own business, with sixty percent of them being empowered to start their own business. By the end of 2021, these women entrepreneurs could build more than 1.35 million new businesses and create about 3.9 million jobs nationwide.

However, based on the results of the said poll from the social networking site, more Filipinas consider poor access to financial services as the major hindrance in keeping them from becoming entrepreneurs despite their own desires. But, regardless of these results, it would seem that small businesses on Facebook may tell the other side of women entrepreneurs' success stories as 40 percent of Facebook pages are actually owned by women. The Facebook poll shows that the Philippines is an ideal country for women-owned businesses and an exceptional example to Asia of the great contribution women bring to the economic growth of one nation.

The next step for encouraging women entrepreneurs is to take their businesses to the digital shift, as well as financial support and support from those who are supporting them in any way possible. With that in mind, these would create benefits of what women-owned businesses can achieve in the future and of how women are fared in starting their own business.
