The Manila Masters 2017 recently concluded last May 28, 2017 with Evil Geniuses as the grand winner although its Philippine representative Clutch Gamers put up a good fight against some of the best professional online gaming teams in the world. But the story I'm about to tell you in this article is not all about the tournament, but it is clearly unbeknownst to thousands of Filipino gamers cheering loudly for their favorite DOTA 2 team.

Prior to the final day of the Manila Masters, a handful of unlikely individuals and groups banded together and attended the first ever International e-Sports Business Conference Manila held at the SMX Convention Center and organized by Mineski Events Team in partnership with TV5. These unlikely people include people and companies who have made an impact in the local gaming and e-sports scene and are willing to set aside their differences and share their own insights on how to move the industry forward.

Gracing the said event and delivering their own case studies regarding e-sports in the Philippines include Mineski Events Team VP for Events and Marketing Marlon Marcelo, Bacchus Energy Drink IT and Marketing Head Earl Yu, Studio 6 General Manager Ronald Schafner, Splitmedia Labs Business Development Manager for Asia-Pacific Miguel Molina, and TV5 President and CEO Vincent "Chot" Reyes. Meanwhile, Twitch Interactive Southeast Asia's Matthias Mati Beyer, global e-sports consultant Michael Piantchneko and Fnatic chief gaming officer Patrik "Carn" Satermon join Mineski Events Team general manager in a discussion panel that capped off the conference.

I'm sure that many Filipino gamers who read this may not understand what is discussed and what you can learn from the conference, but if there is one thing that can be certain then it has to be the fact that the e-sports industry in the Philippines has the potential to grow further with the country's hosting of the Manila Masters and new national e-sports sensations TNC Pro Team as prime examples. The International e-Sports Business Conference Manila is the first step in the industry's new commitment to gain support from the people who believe in the potential and the future in the industry, and soon we may expect more international e-sports tournaments to be held in the country. It will only be a matter of time before the Philippines becomes a force to be reckoned with when it comes to professional gaming.
