It is no surprise for many gaming enthusiasts to learn that the Philippines is an underrated nation when it comes to e-sports despite producing great professional gamers and hosting a slueth of international tournaments. But, it is good to know that there are those that aim to shine light upon gaming communities that are mostly unknown to the rest of the world. And one of those that I have mentioned is global e-sports brand Team Spooky.

Partnered with video game developer and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment, Team Spooky is set to hold Rage Art, an event in the Philippines prior to the worldwide launch of upcoming fighting game Tekken 7. It will be held at the Playbook Circuit Lounge on June 3, 2017 with Php25,000 prize pool on the line for anyone who wants to take part in the said event.

Aside from shining light on the Filipino fighting game community, Team Spooky also aims to honor the unsung Filipino gamers who have made an impact in the international scene such as Alexandre "AK" Lavarez who made the Top 8 in the King of Iron Fist tournaments in 2013 and 2016. According to Team Spooky founder Victor Fontanez, the staging of the Rage Art event will be considered the beginning of a new era for Philippine e-sports. He is hopeful that even those who love fighting games and anticipate the release of Tekken 7 may show their love and appreciation to the genre and show the world what they got.

Team Spooky is now bringing an underrated gaming nation to the rightful path, but there are more things that need to be done before the Philippines becomes a force to be reckoned with in the world of e-sports. Anyway, for more information about the event, visit its official Facebook page here.
