Many Filipinos are awed and fascinated by the rich culture of different
parts of the world especially in Japan. Learning and experiencing the sights
and sounds of the rising sun satisfy their likeness towards Japanese culture
then and now. But for one young millennial from Lipa City, his fascination becomes
an inspiration to stage an exhibit that would not only take visitors to Japan's
natural beauty but showcase a unique collaboration of two different worlds.
Thus, Nippino was born.
I was surprisingly able to take a intriguing look at the exhibit which
was held at the Event Center of SM City Lipa in celebration of
Filipino-Japanese friendship month. Quite frankly, I was truly impressed by what
I have seen around the exhibit - from a bizaare display of Japanese dolls to stunning
photos of people wearing various Japanese-style outfits. Heck, who would have
guessed that they are all straight from karljapz's own collection of everything
Japanese? Those who love what they have explored can interpret their own
fascination in many ways, and what I saw over the weekend was not an exception.
Anyway, it makes pretty much sense to me that a lot of shoppers and
bystanders were able to take their time visiting the showcase and even take
pictures and selfies there. I assumed that many of them feel like that they are
already travelling to another world considering that it represents the collaboration
between Filipino and Japanese culture as described in a moment that welcomed anyone
to the exhibit. With that in mind, I should give kudos to Karl Wendell Villamor
for showing us his own take on the natural beauty and uniquely interesting
culture within the land of the rising sun.
