Battle In The Blood (#BitB)

The Philippines' ongoing campaign against HIV-AIDS is moving up the ante with the introduction of a new mobile game that aims to inform the Filipino youth about the virus and how it can be avoided.

Dr. Emmanuel S. Baja, principal investigator for HIV GET (Gaming, Engaging and Testing) project of University of the Philippines Manila's Institute of Clinical Epidemiology, has managed to develop a digital advocacy gaming application that mostly focuses on the importance of HIV testing and counseling for Filipinos. Named "Battle in the Blood" (#BitB), the unique puzzle and turn-based combat game which can be downloaded for free on Google Play and iOS App Store is set to influence the millennial generation to learn more about HIV-AIDS and its possible effects through the power of mobile gaming.

The game is made possible through funds coming from the United Kingdom's Newton-Agham Grant in cooperation with the Medical Research Council (MRC) and DOST-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development. The project which took a year to finish has even gained support and assistance from the Department of Health, Quezon City and Davao City LGUs, Love Yourself Inc., Engaging Tool for Communication in Health (ETCH) and Extra Mile Studios Ltd.
