Big Ben Complex in 2016 (Image Source: Mapio.com) |
There was one time that I tried playing pool with my deceased father while my siblings were at the arcades as well as one where I was floored by how a storekeeper played Resident Evil 3: Nemesis on the PlayStation which literally pushed me to purchase the said gaming system. These were some of my own memorable childhood memories that I still hold on until now.
Although
I rarely visit Big Ben during my childhood years, it is surprising to learn
that it has contributed well to the growing development of the city. Over the
years, the two-storey building has been home to the likes of RACKS Restaurant,
Anonymous, Home Sweet Home Department Store and even The Library Lipa among
others. Despite the presence of major shopping malls and the continuing evolution
of the city as a new lifestyle hub, Big Ben remains solid and steady with the
overwhelming support of its tenants and the general public.
Perhaps
the biggest attraction in Big Ben so far today is The Courtyard where visitors
can do business, relax and dine amidst the bright sunlight and cool breeze. What
was once the home of Seiji's Amusement in the late 90s and early 2000s is now a
business zone with the likes of Manulife, Redlogo, Fortune Care, and Intercom
gaining their own traction. And then there is 7-Eleven, Goldilocks, Mang Inasal,
Fashion Avenue and a weekday fruit and vegetable market as well as Mercury
Drug, UCPB, Copylandia and Pera Hub that will complete your day. At least this
will be satisfying enough for anyone to get a glimpse at Big Ben.
It
has recently celebrated its 20th year anniversary and it seems that more are
interested in making an impact in the city through their own place in Big Ben.
One of them which has already opened recently is J. Co Cafe and Donuts.
It is without question that Big Ben Complex will continue to serve every person
in the City For All Seasons from different walks of life amidst its changing landscape,
and there are a lot of reasons why its trubitastic impact should never be underestimated.
