Philippine
sports has always been filled with ups and downs every year due to what is
happening in every discipline available - success, failure, controversy, travesty,
etc. 2017 was no different from previous years but there are a few stories that
every Filipino sports fan should be proud of. Among them are the start of a new
chapter for what were supposed to be part of local sports' own endangered
species.
Krizziah Lyn Tabora and Carlo Biado are two Filipinos that not only are proud to represent
their country in their respective discipline, but we should be proud of as well
due to their unexpected success in the international scene. In case you didn't
read the latest sports news on tabloids, Tabora is the 5th Filipino bowler (the
3rd Filipina as well) to win the 2017 QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup putting her
in the annals of Bong Coo and the legendary Paeng Nepomuceno. Meanwhile, Biado
captured the 2017 World 9-Ball Championship trophy after beating Rolando Garcia
in an all-Filipino final which is rarely seen in the tourney's history.

The
success of these two athletes would eventually mark the beginning of a retribution
for both bowling and billiards considering that these two disciplines have
produced world-class Filipino athletes through the years. These two have also been
popular in their own right during their time, gaining traction in billiard
halls and bowling alleys sprawling across the nation. As the world continues to
evolve, the popularity of these sports in the Philippines are starting to
deteriorate but still stable against all odds.
