When we have purchased our own cellphone, the first thing that we need
to do is to purchase a prepaid SIM card and have our own mobile number but
sometimes we need to buy another one with a different mobile number just in case.
However, it is only a matter of time before your first mobile number will become
your forever even if you need to change your SIM card and it will become possible
with the impending implementation of the Lifetime Cellphone Number Bill.
The Philippine Senate has recently voted unanimously in favor of the new law where telcos are mandated to provide mobile number portability to new and current subscribers. Once signed into law by Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte, the new act will benefit mobile device users where they will not be worried about changing their own phone number. With that in mind, it would literally become mobile users' own understanding of the classic song "Diamonds Are Forever".
Although there is no need for me to explain the other aspects of the
new act, the benefits of the Lifetime Cellphone Number Bill has quickly gained
and captured my interest since the smartphone that I have owned until now is
SIM-locked. It is quite interesting for me to discover how the new act will
change anyone's first time using their own mobile device regardless of what
they think. It could remind me of telcos' guidelines on changing SIM cards from
3G to LTE where subscribers don't need to change their current phone number.
The implementation of the Lifetime Cellphone Number Bill may take long,
but it is good to know that telcos are already pledged their support to the new
act and planning to exert efforts in making the act worthwhile. Good luck!!
