The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) in partnership with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) has recently launched its new project which encourages students and aspiring filmmakers from different parts of the country to explore historical events that helped shape the Philippines today but were quite unvisited - the Sinesaysay Film Documentary Lab and Showcase.

Slated to begin this summer, Sinesaysay will be divided into two categories: the Bagong Sibol (New Breed) Documentary Lab and the Feature Documentary Showcase.

Bagong Sibol is open to aspiring filmmakers who are working on their first or second full feature documentary films. Six projects and its fellows will undergo a series of workshops and consultations in developing their short documentary films. Afterwards, two of the chosen projects will be awarded a Php700,000 grant each for the full feature versions of their project.

Meanwhile, for the Feature Documentary Showcase, interested filmmakers will need to showcase a 5-10 pitch trailer for their given topics considering that they are required to have worked on at least two documentary full feature films. Four will be awarded a co-production grant of Php1 million to produce a documentary full feature project aligned with the themes of the program.

Interested students and filmmakers can submit their applications for the Sinesaysay Film Documentary Lab and Showcase until March 31, 2018. For more information, visit www.fdcp.ph/sinesaysay or contact the Film Development Council of the Philippines at (02) 256 99 08 local 103.
