A
total of 868 students from different parts of the province of Batangas have
graced SM City Lipa and SM City Batangas for the observance of the SM Green
Film Festival held last April 10, 2018.
In partnership with SM Cinemas, SM City Lipa has accommodated 502 students from the Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa (KLL) while SM City Batangas welcomed 278 high school and college students from the Lyceum of the Philippines University - Batangas. They are accompanied by faculty and staff members of their respective schools.

Showcased
in the said festival were documentary films produced by the Department of
Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) which tackles various environmental
issues such as waste management, air pollution and resiliency to climate
change. One film that impacted the most for students and faculty is where
schools and communities are able to set up their own composting facility for reducing
wastes. In case you don't know, composting is a a process where organic and
biodegradable wastes are turned into rich compost which are simply known as
either garden soil or organic fertilizer.

With
that in mind, I can tell that many Batangueño students were all smiles after watching
these informative flicks. Besides, the SM Green Film Festival aims to inspire
and inform younger generations on how to care for the environment. Oh, and
let's not forget the fact that the festival has been simultaneously held nationwide
in many SM Supermalls across the country and graced by thousands of young minds
to boot.
