More Filipinos are now starting to shop online and perform cashless transactions through the use of their own mobile devices, but can they be used to create one's own bank account? Well, for Maybank Philippines, they can and it is possible through a new approach that aims to make modern banking more convenient and more practical for even the unbanked Filipinos today. Enter MOVE which stands for Mobile Optimized Virtual Experiences.

Through MOVE, the most accessible global bank in the Philippines with 74 branches nationwide lays out its own sleuth of straight through processing capabilities that can allow Filipinos to perform banking transactions without the need to go to the bank. Among the various capabilities is where Filipinos can create their own online-only bank account known as iSave on their smartphones via the Maybank2U PH mobile app. Considered as the first of its kind in the country, iSave is a digital banking account that allows users to enjoy interbanking transactions for free anytime, anywhere.

Applying for an online-only bank account is simple but it needs more than just personal information. First, download and install the Maybank2U PH app on your smartphone for free from Google Play or iOS App Store and you may start applying for your own bank account. Aside from the personal information, you are mandated to enter either your SSS or TIN number. Once all the details are entered, you are required to submit a clear digital photo of at least one of any government-issued IDs you have. Finally, you need to take a selfie for identity verification.

Apart from the iSave account, Maybank Philippines introduced its MOVE pop up store which will roam across different parts of the country in the coming months and eventually introduce its new products, services and innovations to the masses. The most essential thing about the new approach is that it is Maybank's way of supporting the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' new campaign regarding modern consumer banking. Anyway, the Malaysian-based bank is positive about this new approach and assures that it will benefit more unbanked Filipinos in the near future and I think that will be a unique contribution to the local banking scene in today's modern world.
