The 81st season of the most popular collegiate sports league in the
Philippines is just a few weeks away, and its host National University (NU)
will have plenty of surprisingly intriguing reasons why Filipino sports fans
and even pop culture buffs should enjoy watching the opening ceremonies of UAAP
Season 81 which will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on September 8,
2018.
After hosting the league's 75th season back in 2012, National
University is set to add a different flavor to the much-awaited opening of the
UAAP next month as it is officially announced on social media that popular
all-female Korean pop group MOMOLAND will return to the country to perform during the said festivities.
The phenomenal seven-female sensation visited the Philippines a few days ago to perform in an exclusive private event and made a chance to interact
with its Filipino fans as well as some of the country's notable personalities including former Ilocos Sir governor
Luis Chavit Singson and ten-time eight-division Filipino world boxing champion
Manny Pacquiao during their stay. It is assumed that their upcoming performance in front of thousands
of UAAP students and fans would spark the online world on fire.
Aside from MOMOLAND, those who should be most ecstatic on what would probably
be the most exciting collegiate league season opening today can also expect amazing
and entertaining performances from James Reid and Spongecola. However, regardless
of what you think about the opening ceremony after reading this article, keep
in mind that every season of UAAP is all about pride, spirit and camaraderie
among all eight prestigious universities in the Philippines. Those who will
tune in to the new season should expect many interesting things, especially the
local collegiate basketball debut of Filipino global slam dunk sensation Kobe
Paras as one of the newest members of the UP Fighting Maroons.
