Can you determine all the playable characters in the indie brawler Brawlout? (Image Source: Steam/Angry Mob Games) |
Marvel's
Spiderman for the PS4 is definitely becoming a love letter for video game
fanatics who are literally hungry for action and adventure judging by the reception
from critics and reviewers and even its success in the UK. But if I could think
of another game that is poised to become another love letter, I guess it would
have to be the indie brawler Brawlout.
Many
fighting game buffs were awed at how professional gamers master their own
skills and fare well against each other in Super Smash Brothers considering
that it is the only one of its kind and style that is placed in the annals of
competitive gaming. Anyone who is not familiar with or doesn't know about Nintendo's
flagship fighting game franchise but want to try it out and master their own brawling
skills may consider themselves fortunate that Brawlout could be what they need.
To make it uniquely understandable, Brawlout is a love letter to fighting game
buffs who want to enjoy and experience the thrill of playing Super Smash Brothers.
There
are a handful of brawlers that follow the style and mechanics of Super Smash Brothers,
but it seems that Angry Mob Games has succeeded in coming up with a Smash clone
that can stand out on its own. Its selection of characters may not be as widely
intriguing as that in Smash, but the addition of guest characters from the
likes of Hyper Light Drifter and Guacamelee may convince you to fight as a
different character par none. Heck, you can even encourage your friends to come
over to their place and have a multiplayer brawlfest thanks to its Couch Mode.
Then
there is the indie brawler's gameplay mechanics which is typically similar to
Smash Brothers, but what makes Brawlout different is the inclusion of Combo
Breakers and Rage Mode that could further boost your mastery on getting into
the game and winning it. Finally, if you have enough points from every brawl
you played, you can go to its in-game shop and purchase items and accessories
at your own accord if you need to. Well, that's Brawlout for you - a Super
Smash Brothers style brawler that may be one's introduction to the franchise as
well as an indie game's love letter to those who want to have their own virtual
brawl within the comforts of their own home.
Brawlout is exclusively
available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and the PC. A special
shoutout to Marvel's Spiderman from Insomniac Games which is mentioned in the
introduction of this article!! Both Brawlout and Marvel's Spiderman are available
at any Game One PH or i.TECH store nationwide or online via GameOne.ph. For
