Php318
million. That is how much Star Cinema's The Hows of Us was earned in more than
400 cinemas nationwide as announced on ABS-CBN's top-rating noontime variety
show It's Showtime last September 3, 2018, and it is a massively delightful
gift for its main stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla on the celebration
of their 7th year anniversary as a love team that is well-loved by Filipinos in
and out of the country. But the highly-successful run of The Hows of Us is more
than just a gift.
KathNiel's
latest blockbuster hit and arguably one of the most challenging to date in my
case garnered an overwhelming reception from not just local movie critics, but also
of those who have watched since the very first day of its showing as strongly
evidenced by a very long line of young and old movie goers in various cinemas across
different parts of the country. Such reception eventually became a major factor
to the movie's record-breaking success in the Philippine box office to our
surprise.
Less
than 24 hours from its first day of showing, The Hows Of Us earned Php35.94
million which is more than enough to earn the distinction of having the highest-grossing
opening day for a Filipino movie. It then moved on to continue breaking more
local box-office records that has taken many movie buffs to their surprise
including the highest-grossing opening weekend (Php279 million in five days)
and the largest single-day box-office gross (Php82.4 million, September 2nd)
among others.
Heck,
it even surpassed the total box-office grosses of local blockbuster hits The Super
Parental Guardians and A Second Chance and even previous Kathniel flicks such
as Barcelona: A Love Untold and Crazy Beautiful You; thus becoming the fourth
all-time highest-grossing movie in the Philippines today. With so much success
on hand, Star Cinema has been keen on thanking movie buffs for watching,
enjoying and supporting the movie via social media and I would not be surprised
if KathNiel becomes local cinema's new phenomenal stars by year end.
