Gaming enthusiasts from different parts of the archipelago will gather
and converge on October 26-28, 2018 at the SMX Convention Center for an epic
weekend like no other as the Electronic Sports and Gaming Summit (ESGS) is set
to become one big event to remember with so much to watch out for including a
showcase of the finest games and gaming products available and complimentary
pop culture events such as cosplay competitions and pop-up stores among others.
Among what gamers and spectators can expect at the Philippines' largest
gaming convention is the highly-anticipated Road To The Nationals grand finals.
From thousands of aspiring pro gamers competing in a series of qualifying
events held across the country, the best and the finest are set to cement their
own journey and will have a chance to become part of The Nationals, the first
franchise model eSports league in the Philippines, as a member of any of its
six founding teams, namely: PLDT-Smart, Cignal, TNC, Happy Feet, Bren eSports,
and STI.
Officially sanctioned by the eSports National Association of the
Philippines (ESNAP), the Road To The Nationals grand finals will feature renouned
DOTA 2 and Tekken 7 players, new teams and players making their own scene
throughout the qualifiers, and several surprises which are set to showcase
their own skills and gaming prowess that can impress audiences with a prize
pool of Php1.5 million at stake (Php1.2 million for DOTA 2 and Php300,000 for
Tekken 7). I'm sure that ESPN5 will deliver every pounce of the action to many
Filipino viewers who will be curious about this engaging affair.
Aside from the Road To The Nationals, the ESGS 2018 is pretty much
stacked with what we can expect on the last weekend of October including Kojima
Productions, mobile gaming competitions powered by Mobile eSports Arena (MeSA),
the official Philippine launch of the ASUS ROG Phone, cosplay competition with
fighting games as this year's theme, Indie Arena featuring homegrown
independent games, and so much more. Any of these will give you many reasons
why the ESGS 2018 can be part of your long weekend itinerary.
