October 17, 2018 was no ordinary day in the Philippine entertainment
scene as Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid opened a new chapter in her
long and illustrious career by stepping into the doors of what she believed is
the number one television station in the Philippines and becoming a certified
Kapamilya with legitimate formality, and it was a chapter that was the talk of
the town after she officially bid farewell to her former home network after more
than two decades.
And what better way for ABS-CBN Corporation, the premiere media and
entertainment company in the Philippines, to welcome the songbird than to roll out
a red carpet for her arrival which was witnessed by hundreds of the network's
employees and loyal Regine fans. Of course, she was accompanied by no less than
her husband Ogie Alcasid who has been part of a long stable of Kapamilya
artists since 2016, I guess.
Many Filipinos have already expressed their overwhelmingly positive
reaction on social media upon learning more about this delightful news which is
a top trending topic. Heck, even several Kapamilya stars and artists are
feeling ecstatic on working with the songbird. But, there are those who are a
bit disappointed and have doubts on her initial stint on the Kapamilya network.
Luckily, the likes of Janno Gibbs and fellow OPM hitmakers were able to defend Regine's
new chapter in her career with the former stating that it was the right time
for Regine and I have to agree on it.
Anyway, what can we expect from Asia's Songbird now that she is a
certified Kapamilya? Well, she is expected to be part of the Philippines'
longest-running musical variety show ASAP considering that she was part of its
recently successful show in Sydney, Australia a few days ago. She is set to have
an upcoming sitcom with her hubby and Ian Veneracion as well as becoming one of
the judges of the upcoming reality singing competition Idol Philippines. And if
offered, it is possible that Regine may become part of ABS-CBN's upcoming
Christmas station ID.
