Thousands of church goers and devotees from different parts of the province
of Batangas and even across the Luzon island have gathered at the San Sebastian
Metropolitan Cathedral situated within the heart of Lipa City on the 17th of
August and waited patiently amidst themselves for the highly-anticipated
arrival of the incorrupt heart relic of Padre Pio. Fortunately, it did not fail
them but what happened during its steadfast arrival was beyond what we have
witnessed at that time.
As sunset drew near, a cloud formation that symbolizes Padre Pio's head
lying in bed was made on top of the the city's Metropolitan Cathedral. Many were
able to be amazed and impressed at what they have seen in the skies during the
veneration while braving towards a sea of devotees. Luckily, a handful was able
to capture such a rare moment on their smartphones' built-in rear cameras and
eventually share it on social media more particularly on Facebook.
At first, I was not sure what is special about the picture you see
above aside from a massive crowd standing and waiting outside the Cathedral just
to see and probably touch the incorrupt heart. But once you look at it
carefully, you will get to see the difference and realize that there is a rare
sighting during the relic's arrival. To be honest, this intriguing cloud formation
feels like heaven has shone down on the wonderful city of Lipa and its people
anew. This may possibly be considered as a major reason why my home city is
blessed to be dubbed as the Little Rome of the Philippines.
