2018
was a year when Filipino tech addicts and enthusiasts have seen a lot of smartphone
innovations that are thought to be unimaginable and impossible to become materialized,
and they are looking forward to what they can expect from the Philippine smartphone
market since 2019 has already began. But if you ask the trubist on what to
expect from the competitive market, the simple answer to that is that these
innovations would continue to evolve and flourish in the Year of the Earth Pig.
I've
just read a bevy of smartphone predictions for 2019 on a legitimate local tech
blog, but it was actually a press release from an online e-commerce portal Argomall.
Judging from what I've read and learned, I would have to agree on its
predictions but I want to share them in my own trubitastic way. For starters,
it is intriguing to say that more local and international brands will be eager
in incorporating a full screen display on their upcoming smartphones. Though it
was Chinese brands Vivo and OPPO that started the innovation on smartphone
displays, there will be more of these that I think can exceed what the Chinese
brands can offer this year in terms of display.
Speaking
of Chinese brands, I would have to second Argomall's thoughts on them and other
Asian brands that are predicted to be dominating the global smartphone market
in 2019 since the likes of Samsung and Apple are slated to struggle in
smartphone sales due to the dwindling trade issues between the US and China. Active
mobile brands in Asia would have to think of more enduring and essential
efforts to gain strong traction in the markets where they are available. Among
these efforts include the availability of newly engaging and affordable devices
with specs and features that cater to the digital lifestyle needs of their
customers.
Incoming
midrange smartphones which are set to be priced at least Php10,000 will have internal
storage of up to 128 GB, and this may have surprised me a bit. Meanwhile, new
entry-level marvels will have 3 GB of RAM that is perfect for more efficient multitasking
for the productive smartphone users. On my personal note, these devices would
certainly perfect for all types of mobile gamers especially those who want to become
known in the world of professional gaming and make their nation proud as an
athlete while smartphone users will continue to do their daily on-the-go
itinerary while making rounds for their own working duties.
