Globe
Telecom, the premiere purveyor of the modern Filipino digital lifestyle, is
literally heating up the professional gaming scene in the Philippines with the introduction
of its own eSports team Liyab which is set to compete in world-renouned titles
throughout 2019 including League of Legends, Hearthstone and even 2019
Southeast Asian Games medal game Arena of Valor (AoV).
Made
possible in partnership with local pro gaming pioneer Mineski, the creation of a
professional gaming team is part of the telco's newfound commitment in accelerating
the development of the industry in the country through the Globe Gaming and
eSports Program (formerly Globe Gaming) and Liyab (which stands for blaze in
Filipino) is slated to become the country's symbol of intensely burning
passion, pride and focus in the international eSports scene.
For
Mineski president and CEO Ronald Robins, eSports is now entering a new stage
where new roles are filled in to assure the constant growth and progress of the
athletes. Liyab will establish its own management system where sports science, mental
and physical problems will be introduced and athletes will undergo further
training in facilities that are a stone's throw away from playing houses. With
these in mind, all members of Team Liyab will become promising gamers who will
set the eSports realm ablaze with their skills, demeanor, discipline and competitiveness
as a result of their hard-nosed, no-nonsense training.
In fact,
Liyab has already gained its own accomplishments in 2018 competing in various local
and international competitions such as the Philippine Pro Gaming League (PPGL),
Globe Conquerors Manila, 2018 League of Legends Rift Rivals and World Electronic
Sports Games (WESG) Southeast Asia. It is without question that Liyab will play
a major role on how Globe Telecom redefine the gaming and eSports habits of
Filipinos by adding gaming responsibility as part of the telco's #PlayItRight advocacy
and Mineski will help shape the local pro gaming scene by creating professional
standards for eSports athlete development, influence attitudes, personalities
and aspirations of the country's new generation of gamers.
