ON THE RADAR | February 27, 2019
It
has been four years since ABS-CBN Corporation, the premiere media and entertainment
company in the Philippines, led the historic switch from analog to digital
terrestrial television that is aimed at transforming the television viewing
experience of Filipino households with the launch of the ABS-CBN TV Plus
digibox. Since its inception in the Philippine market, the country's first
commercially released digital TV service has attracted many Filipino consumers
with its features and exclusive channels that offer better and more enjoyable
viewing experience at home.
On
the celebration of its 4th year anniversary, ABS-CBN has stated that the sales
for the TV Plus box has reached seven million units due to the growing bulk of
non-cabled households who are making the switch to digital free TV. In fact,
the growing number of these households in different parts of the country has surprisingly
increased according to the results of Kantar Media Philippines' August 2018
establishment survey including Mega Manila, Metro Manila and even the suburbs.
Furthermore, more than 1.2 million TV Plus users were able to enjoy watching
fresh Filipino films and special events on the Kapamilya Box Office (KBO) PPV
channel considering that it is now accessible for subscribers of all networks
(Smart, Sun, TNT, Globe and TM).
2018
happens to be a more fruitful year for ABS-CBN TV Plus as it was officially
launched last November in the province of Batangas making it the newest
addition to the list of coverage areas where ABS-CBN's digital TV signal is
available. It has also launched five new exclusive channels namely Asianovela
Channel, Movie Central, Jeepney TV, MYX and O Shopping which are available on
free trial with the exception of O Shopping in Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite,
Laguna, Metro Cebu and Cagayan de Oro until May 31, 2019. Heck, many Filipinos
are enjoying the benefits of their new viewing experience through the SorpreSaya
Truck that has been roaming around different parts of the country and in
various festivals celebrated across the nation.

Lipa Love Fest 2019 Attracts
More Than It Can Chew
Who
would have thought that a residential compound in one part of the city of Lipa
can become an interesting platform in showcasing exciting and engaging events and
even a spectacle of Filipino entertainment that can attract a huge audience?
That is what I have thought overall when I learned about the Lipa Love Fest
2019 that took place at the Olan residence compound at Brgy. Maraouy last
February 16, 2019.
True
enough, the festival was indeed a huge success as more than 23,000 spectators
have trooped to the event grounds and enjoyed their time watching some of their
favorite performers showcase their prowess on stage. These include JK Labajo, Cacai
Bautista, KZ Tandingan, MNL48, Because, and the UP Singing Ambassadors among
other guests. The Love Fest was indeed a successful affair for the Bangon Lipa
initiative led by no less than Senator Ralph Recto and Congresswoman Vilma
Santos-Recto.

2019 by watching its highlights on www.facebook.com/LipaStatus.
