MNL48, the Philippines' premiere all-female idol group, is now entering
its second year and the ABS-CBN Vertis Tent in Quezon City is considered an
avenue for hundreds of fans and spectators from different parts of the country
to witness first-hand various changes and a new direction that have already
sparked the beginning of the group's new chapter in the eyes of the Filipino
netizens.
April 27, 2019 was an important day as MNL48 officially announced the members
of its second generation based on the results of its second general elections dubbed
as the Senbatsu Sousenkyo. MNL48's second general elections is inspired by that
of AKB48, but it has added one element that surprised the audiences and shocked
netizens alike - the elimination of the unranked. All of the first generation
members were vying to stay in the group while several trainees and aspirants were
hopeful that they become part of the second generation.
The second general elections was made possible through the public who have
been given one voting ticket for every purchase of available MNL48 merchandise
via the group's official website and eventually used the ticket to vote for
their favorite MNL48 member, trainee or aspirant between the 1st and 26th of
April. In the end, seven aspirants and five trainees were able to make the most
important cut while 36 first generation members are staying in the group for the
unforeseeable future. Of course, like the first generation, the second
generation members are classified based on their ranks, namely: Senbatsu (#1-#16),
Under Girls (#17-32), and Next Girls (#33-48).

The results of the second general elections also included the crowning
of a new center girl Aly who entered the group as rank number 26. Meanwhile,
the first generation's center girl Sheki remains part of the Senbatsu and the
Kami 7 as rank number 4. Joining Aly and Sheki in the second generation's Kami
7 are Alice, Sayaka, Jamie (the highest ranked among the new entrants at number
6), Abby and Sela. Completing the second generation members of MNL48 is Andi
who began her journey as a trainee.
In any case, here is the official list of MNL48's second generation
members in case you have missed the results:

Necca, Nice, Princess, Vira, Mela, Yna, Karla, Hazel, Sha) were able to bade
farewell to their fellow members and thank their fans for the support during its
mini-graduation event held last May 1, 2019 at Movie Stars Café in Quezon City.
The results of MNL48's second general elections have received mixed reactions from
netizens on social media with some expressing their congratulations to the new members
while others demand the breakdown of votes and even use the hashtag #MNL48DeservesBetter.
Regardless, a new chapter for MNL48 has already begun and those who follow the
group and are not happy with the outcome of the recent elections should live
with it without doubts or questions intact.
