Batangas
City, one of the capitol cities in the province of Batangas and the most
progressive among all of its cities and municipalities, is celebrating its 50th
anniversary and the local government under its newly-elected officials led by Mayor
Beverly Dimacuha and 5th District Congressman Marvey Mariño has officially
announced a stacked schedule of activities for its golden celebration. And as
reported on the city's official Facebook page Palakat Batangas City, it will be
a month-long affair that will benefit the city and its people as a whole.
Headlining
the city's golden anniversary with the theme "Batangas City, Kariktan @ 50
- Batangas City: At Its Best @ 50..." is its annual Sublian Festival on
July 23, 2019 which will kick off with the introduction of Zharyne Amorado
Santos as Miss Batangas City Foundation Day 2019 followed by a Salute of
Respect to the Philippine Flag and Honoring of Flowers at the Plaza Mabini and
a Prayer for Peace and Unity and Thanksgiving Mass at the Basilica Of The Immaculate
Concepcion in the early morning. It will then feature a street dancing parade from
the provincial capitol to the Basilica's patio and a court dancing competition
in the afternoon at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum.
Prior
to the upcoming festivities on July 23rd, a Sublian dance competition will take
place in the afternoon of July 22nd. On the other hand, the 19th of July will
be dedicated to the youth of Batangas City with a Student's Fair and Meet and Greet
at the Track Oval of the city's sports coliseum and modern dance competition in
the afternoon inside the Batangas City Convention Center - all presented by
Tanduay. Completing the Araw ng Kabataan festivities is a special event at the
track oval where one of the country's rising bands today Agsunta is performing.
An interesting
part of Batangas City's 50th year anniversary that citizensa nd foodies should
look forward to is the Haying Batangas food fest on July 13-23, 2019 at the
Plaza Mabini where it is slated to showcase some of the city's finest
delicacies. Other activities in the month-long celebration will include a
simultaneous citywide cleaning drive on July 4th, native dance and art
competitions in honor of national hero Apolinario Mabini on July 18, the Gintong
Duyan Awards on July 16th where the city government honors various
personalities and those giving honor to the city through the years, and a job
fair at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum on July 27th to cap off the
celebration.
With
this glorious itinerary on hand, the observance of Batangas City's 50th year
